A new spell: Break Enchantment

Post by xaho »

I came up with the idea when I was enchanting some equipment, how about a spell which makes you empty a items enchantment, so it would go back to 0/30000 (30000 is a example i took from my ring).
Cause I've seen several people messing up with enchanting, (including me)
I think it should be a enchantment spell with about a complexity of.. say... 60? maybe 70?

I'd be a happy to hear some remaks on it, positive and negative.

No IMO. People would enchant the item and then dis-enchant it and then re-enchant it again.

They would use it to raise there enchanting skill with only one item.

I dont like it

I like the idea, even though Dourht did have a good reason for being against it. Yes some people would dis-enchant and re-enchant one item to raise their skill, but they will still have to get all the items they must drain to do it, so its not a compleat cheat for them.

There has been times I wish I could have removed the enchantments I had placed on an item as I was learning what they did, and how much space they used. This is especialy true of items I could not make without unlearning another skill myself and had to buy it.

Even though I like the idea, I think it should be a command instead of a spell. As a spell, it may lead to other player abuses that Dourht did not think of, like dis-enchanting other players items.

On the other hand, it might make a usefull combat spell in PvP combat, and would serve to reduce the number of magic items running around.

Anyhow, these are my first thoughts. I would like to hear from others about this.

I would like to see all the lower lvling people complain about re-enchanting eq with edit glory in it.

example: Blessings of the elder gods. thats a torso having extra 5k space that you have to use glory to enchant it more then its stats.

Last time I checked, putting spells into jewelry maxed out their enchantment, not emptied it. The exact opposite of what he's asking about.

Maybe it has changed.

Just to play the devil's advocate, but they can already do that with jewelry.

My take: Allow it, but when it is done, 100% of the item's enchant space will cost glory 1:1 like a mob item.

That way it can be done, but not to raise your enchant, and it is rather expensive, so a last ditch for expensive items.

That's no justification for the rest of my post.
