i'm having issues with it atm, even though i know i'm using the proper IP, and it's pingable.
So if anyone else is having similar woes, you're not alone, i'll post here when it's resolved.

Using zmud? Ive heard that zmud ppl were having problems, was talking to Gaitika about his problem just yesterday.

If it is a zMUD problem the fix would probably be to:
Edit the character settings for Dark Legacy,
Put: 205.234.68.8 in the Host, although I think dark-legacy.com is working now.
Click the lookup button... I /think/ that might fix it.

it doesnt
the first thing i did was try every available way to make it work, no luck.
and it's not limited to zmud, using windows default telnet client also does not work.
i can ping the thing (98 ms)
host lookup works fine
http://www.dark-legacy.com can resolve its ip address fine
but, i cannot connect

It'd help to see some trace routes.

Dunadan (#10)
I also get the same problem, and doesn't work with Portal GT, SimpleMU, the http://www.dark-legacy.com connect, the DL program etc
.
Isabelle (#11)
it's too specific to be a coincidence, i believe the mud officially dislikes us Dunadan.
If i ever get back in, it's sooo gunna pay for this.

ShanaArkai (#14)
i got on not too long ago as well, using the IP, and i use portal GT
Isabelle (#15)
anywho, i just tried a few other muds, because i started thinking i was being mental, and they worked fine.
dark legacy is being mean to me, or at least this new fangled server is.

I use ZMud and the way I got on was went to the new screen, Clicked new, typed the IP address in host, named it DL Temp, typed the port, and bam, I was in.

If you need help connecting this way, send me a PM and I'll do whatever I can to help anyone that asks.

In my case, and probably Dunadans, i believe our sites are somehow blocked.
Dunadan (#18)
Yeah it does look that way, won't even let us try to connect.
Zeraphin (#19)
irc is cool I hear, for talking with people if you can't connect.
I'll see what I can find out this weekend.

Yeah, most anyone that needs to talk to me can use my msn to talk though, but i might try getting on the IRC later. [email redacted] if you want my msn
.

i am nefertuaten on irc
weems (#22)
Why don't you guys try logging in through a proxy?
Isabelle (#23)
do you have any suggestions to some proxy servers?
when it first happened, i tried mudconnect, and some other one which seemed big at the time. Both did the same thing as if they were not proxy servers, but just using my windows telnet client to connect.
I don't currently have any shell accounts from which to logon with.
I've done a couple searches for proxy servers, but i lose patience quickly, and have not yet found what i'm looking for.

Isabelle (#25)
question, is the mud up or down? (12:30 est)
because when i use any of the proxy servers on that website, i either get:
a screen of html code saying that there was some internal error, or, i connect to dark legacy (connected to: Dark Legacy) and i get nothing.
if it's down, then ok, if it's up, then it looks like theres either something wrong with my brain, or i'm outta luck

Have you tried connecting from a different computer, or from a different physical connection?Isabelle wrote:question, is the mud up or down? (12:30 est)

yeah, i tried diff computers
i'm sure i could connect with some other ISP, but my goal is to be able to connect while at home, and i don't understand why it's not letting me
Well, i understand that when that Seattle Datacentre was lost, so was I, i'm just not understanding the specifics.

Dunadan (#29)
Yeah i've tried different computers too, but they're all on the same network and ISP so it doesn't help much. And since i have no access to computers on a different network right now i'd kind of like to be able to play here too
.
Celeborn (#30)
Heya guys,
As far as I can gather its not the mud itself but either the server or something along the route blocking port 9898 for certain providers. Since I lack admin access to the machine I have no way of analysing the network traffic for a problem.
I've setup a quick and dirty means to connect those who are unable to connect. email me ([email redacted]) with your IP number and/or hostname and i'll email you the specifics.
I've mailed our provider for some help on the issue. I hope he'll be able to fix things soon

Okay i mailed you with my IP specifics.
Celeborn (#32)
Isa, duna, and anyone else with connection problems, could you try connect to: cassie.xidus.net, port 9898? It will help the server admin to determine if the problem is provider or server/mud based.
You should get connected to a game called 'SocialMUX' which is temporarily on that port for the purpose of this test.

Yes i can connect to that mud just fine, as for the DL one you sent me i get the same problem.
