Champion is my favorite epic class for a melee character.
You get all the basic fighting skills such as Spin, multistrike, backstab, circle, charge ect...
You also get dodge, parry, tumble, equilibrium, and shields. You get all armors.
You are decent with daggers, exotics, hammers, maces, axes, swords, and talons.
You have the "Hands" skill of the Paladin for emergency heals. You get a decent enough heal spell, regen, resurrection, and bless from being a paladin as well.
As a Paladin you can also use Holy Avenger for criticals on Undead.
Lastly you get the Hide, Sneak, Detrap, and Lockpick from being a Rogue.
Warrior/Rogue/Paladin is a great combo if I do say so. Even the name is cool: C H A M P I O N

Depends on what you want to do with the class. For combat, the best classes are Holy Templar, Juggernaut, and Spiritualist, with the best one for each character depending on whether they are a pixie or a gnome, and what ultra runes they have(for example, someone with no surps or dupis shouldn't be a Juggernaut, and a Gnome shouldn't be a Spiritualist)
Hrulgin (#6)
I personally like swashbuckler as an epic class, you get almost everything Vogar loves about the Chanpion class (minus the warrior-specific skills such as spin) but trade them for more speed from psion complexities as well as some defense spells.
Paladin/Rogue/Psionocist=Swashbuckler
Paladin/Rogue/Psionocist=Swashbuckler
Gerret (#7)
i like the Assassin, just because of the name,.
Psion/ranger/mage
Psion/ranger/mage
Zidane (#8)
psionicist, rogue, cleric=dungeon delver is 1 of the best epicer for gems, gold, tome, the name saided it all (dungeon delver) just look at zidane, souwan, but do the new patches conjurer and spell user have more advanage now but when it come to melee and epicing dungeon delver all the way
Nellwyn (#9)
Myself, I like my Arcane Templar. But I am enthusiastic about getting my Swashbuckler up to par - I heard they are awesome =)
Gilgolad (#10)
What's my char going to be, and will it suck eggs? i've finally, (AFTER A WHOLE YEAR AND A HALF) gotten to dual av.
I'm currently a lev 18\18\18 Mage\Pal\Ranger

The most important thing is having fun. By far. If you are having fun, stick with it, you are doing the right thing.Gilgolad wrote:What's my char going to be, and will it suck eggs? i've finally, (AFTER A WHOLE YEAR AND A HALF) gotten to dual av.

But with that said, it would depend on who you asked. Many consider the ranger to be the worst overall class, so that alone would disqualify your character from being a power build. But honestly, so much of your power depends on your gear...Almost any character can be made uber with the right equipment.
But in the end, somebody who started with a different set of classes will always be stronger than you, all other things being equal.
All about fun in the end though.
Scorpinock (#12)
I just got around to reading this post. My favorite class is Knight. I love being able to spin and breath. The heal from my pally is also awesome. I see no downsides to Knight.
ShanaArkai (#13)
i happen to like spiritualist, you get spin, speed, and healing, plus good defence. my only problem is im a gnome, if i were a pixie i would be 5% better
i say the the only 2 clesses that REALLY matter are warrior and cleric, if you have those 2 any other class mixed with it will work. some people may disagree but, this is just my opinion. and before anyone says it, there is ALLWAYS a stronger class combo

Quintos (#14)
No, you would be 4.16666666666666666666666666666666666% better that you currently are.
weems (#15)
Hrm, replace cleric with paladin and I will agree with you. If you are only going to have a single healing class, might as well be a paladin.ShanaArkai wrote:i happen to like spiritualist, you get spin, speed, and healing, plus good defence. my only problem is im a gnome, if i were a pixie i would be 5% better

Bon (#16)
whaaa lol i peronaly like clerics and pallys in same you get diffrent things with them and why if your going to pick a healing class might as well be pally pally heal pale in compareson to clerics my favorite class would be inquisitor because they own ~nod~ holy templas are good also as well as orcles
ShanaArkai (#17)
i dont even pick cleric for healing, if i need a heal that bad i can always regen or quaff a potion. the reason i say cleric is haste and ward. if you have 90% resistance to somthing you are more than likely not going to need a heal. but like i said, this is my opinion (and i dont really PvP so im just talking from an epicing point of view)
Bon (#18)
even in epics you sometimes need heals thats why healing comes in handy atleast for me at e400 things do do damage even with 90% resist
ShanaArkai (#19)
ya but like i said, if you do need a heal you can allways quaff a potion or let regen works its corse, having a cleric is good for healing, true... but my point was healing isnt the best thing about a cleric
Bon (#20)
i agree clerics have many uses but if you chose cleric no matter what the reason you should milk it for what its worth
ShanaArkai (#21)
i agree, i was thinking about making a pixie psion/cleric/pally for speed, what do ya think? equiped with dual daggers with moo runes and holy avenger wouldnt that be like.... super fast?
voska (#22)
ur talkin bout a defender, im very interested in making one as well, i think they r supposed to be super fast, but u think pixie is the best race for one?
Bon (#23)
well imo inquisitor is probaly one of the quikest and best classes you get maxed daggers plus good haste and vig and a /ok/ time flux but a pixie is probaly the quickest race out there i enjoy mine havnt tried a defender but they would be quick yes
ShanaArkai (#24)
ya i say pixie because well.... 25% magic, or maby a gnome would be a good choice with 20% magic and 50 MR at level 50. im kinda a big fan of gnome, but i like the 25% magic you get from pixies. (my alt has 74 MR without spells and 146 MR with spells and thats not max fecs)
voska (#25)
yea, but since a defender is a pally/psion/cleric, wouldnt u want a race thatwould help more in the melee area? pixie isnt the best when it comes to strength
Bon (#26)
yeah i liek gnomes but i love pixies once they put inthe starsign patch it will be nice
voska (#27)
what is the starsign patch?
Bon (#28)
well if you want melle defenders arnt the best choice you dont have any weapon prof above 80
ShanaArkai (#29)
no they arnt but since when has that mattered? sure you will be a tad weaker, but you can setbody to fix size problems and enchant eq for damroll and AR. i would rather hit you 20 times for 100 dmg each then 5 times for 150 each
(also with high speed comes the spell called slow, helps out alot in the arena)
Bon (#30)
well for voska the starsign patch is basicly no races have any perks like the 25% to magic and such but rather each race gets to pick a startsign like humans now and the starsigns would give the perks
Bon (#31)
and yes may make you a tad bit weaker but take my main for example hes a pixie but he does very good damage given i have 1250 dam roll but i hit insanly fast for high amounts of damage
Zidane (#32)
i also think white magician rules as one of the top 5
Gnome or Pixie is the best bet for this epic class (mage/druid/paladin)
Gnome or Pixie is the best bet for this epic class (mage/druid/paladin)
Chavez (#33)
My top 5 is this:
1. Inquisitor (paladin/cleric/rogue)
2. Holy Templar (warrior/cleric/paladin)
3. Warpriest (warrior/cleric/rogue
4. Spiritualist (warrior/cleric/psionicist)
5. Arcane Templar (warrior/mage/cleric)
I know, lots of warrior, rogue, paladin and cleric, but imo these 4 classes are the best ones around... Too bad you can't have 4 classes, a warrior/cleric/rogue/paladin would own

ShanaArkai (#34)
rogue/pally/cleric/psion would own imo if you had 4 classes you get 99% daggers with uber speed, you would hit faster than light
Thremp (#35)
Warpriests suck, especially troll warpriests.Chavez wrote:My top 5 is this:

Kiasyn (#36)
Warpriests are pretty good actually...
Quintos (#37)
Yeah...the only downsides they have are that a.) if you're not a pixie or gnome, it takes longer to max speed, although this won't be true after the race patch and b.) you don't have paladin's buffs.
Nuitari (#38)
The best epic classes:
Ranger/Cleric/Warrior( or Ranger/Warrior/Cleric)
Druid/Cleric/Warrior (in any order, though I'd put druid or cleric first)
There's really no reason not to be one of these class combinations on a character you intend to use primarily for combat.
If you're not going to gain many epic levels, druid might be a better choice than ranger, but in the long run ranger is better.

How/Why?Kiasyn wrote:Warpriests are pretty good actually...
voska (#40)
why is a ranger/cleric/warrior a great combat class?
ShanaArkai (#41)
warpriest is good because you get high % in almost every weapon out there, your lowest being 80% and 6 of them being up to 99% meaning when you fight you have a wide range of weapons in which to take down your enemy. also you have cleric for healing and haste/buffs which in almost every way i can think of is a good thing. then you get into skills that the classes have, such as hide, sneak, detrap, bash, spin, all of which are good to have. the only down side to warpriest is you have no offensive magic, but if worked correctly you can get around that too, all in all i would give warpriest and 8 out of 10 when it comes to epic classes, but no many people care what i think, im just a noob.
as for what Nuitari said, i have only one question, how is ranger a good class in the long run? their rubbish imo, only good thing they get is track, and thats not even that great.

Chavez (#42)
i completely agree with you, you're right about all of the things you said, and that explanation about warpriest pro's and con's doesn't sound noobish at all too meQuote:warpriest is good because you get high % in almost every weapon out there, your lowest being 80% and 6 of them being up to 99% meaning when you fight you have a wide range of weapons in which to take down your enemy. also you have cleric for healing and haste/buffs which in almost every way i can think of is a good thing. then you get into skills that the classes have, such as hide, sneak, detrap, bash, spin, all of which are good to have. the only down side to warpriest is you have no offensive magic, but if worked correctly you can get around that too, all in all i would give warpriest and 8 out of 10 when it comes to epic classes, but no many people care what i think, im just a noob.
Nuitari (#43)
This is just a thread about your opinion on what the best epic class is. Ranger/Cleric/Warrior is currently the optimum epic class; if you want to know why, try it out. I'm giving you a valuable piece of advice, not a strategy guideShanaArkai wrote:as for what Nuitari said, i have only one question, how is ranger a good class in the long run? their rubbish imo, only good thing they get is track, and thats not even that great.
ShanaArkai (#44)
im just wanting to know your reason for thinking ranger is a good class to have, i have played a ranger, my first epic class was Fey and i found ranger to be my only problem with the class, im not trying to say that your wrong, just trying to figure out how Ranger could possibly be any good, as far as i know the only thing a ranger really has that any other class dosnt is track, and i belive others would agree with me that the ranger class is the most useless class out there.
lingolas (#45)
your ranger is probably at a low level. A high lvl ranger has a nice perk that makes them pretty powerful. I wont say what it is because torrim would rather have you find out yourself. Also, they key isnt the ranger alone but the combination of a ranger/cleric and warrior. Believe it or not, i am working on a pk character that has the ranger as one of the alternative classes.
ShanaArkai (#46)
i got my ranger to about e100 and still found ranger to be the downfall of my epic class. and i played as the ranger for a little over a year (didnt level much) if it does have anything good i dont know what it is.
Kayze (#47)
1.Arcane Templar - Good all around Class. - Spin.
2.Spiritualist - Great casting class , downfall: Lack of Holy Avenger. - Spin
3.Juggernaut - Probably the best all around Melee class. - Spin
4.Swashbuckler - There is like an army of them. - Multistrike
5.Holy Templar - Downfall : No Time flux , Haste seems to make it for it though. - Spin.

My top epic classes:
PVP:
*Swashbuckler\
Not great classes if you aren't willing to earn alot of
epic levels because of low body/defensive complexes
In my opinion though, in the long run these are the
best PVP combos.
*Juggernaut /
*Inquisitor \
Great classes at lower levels ,meaning less than e400
or so;less powerful than the other classes I'll
mention in the long run, due to a lack of diversity in
both complexities and skills
*Holy Templar/
*Dungeon Delver\
Even more powerful at low levels, and lose less in
terms of spell complexities and skills; The loss of
Holy avenger'ed weapons in PVP is not a good idea
though considering the lich population...
*Spiritualist /
PVE:
~ Notice: By PVE I do not mean epic dungeons; epics require good ~
~ eq/ resists and/or good saves. I am referring to Super-Mobs ~
*Arcane Spy \
Absolutely the best PVE classes in my opinion.
You gain a strong melee class either way, mage for
Dispel and Unravel defense primarily, and cleric
for healing(crucial against many supermobs), and
Bane which is particularly awesome if you are an
elemental of the type mages can bane
*Arcane Templar/
Yes I realize that this thread wants the top 5 epic classes. I break rules....
