rogue's steal ability
i know the steal ability was disabled due to abuse but i have an idea to revamp the ability. y not be able to use it against mobs. for example, u must hide first, then u can sneak to a mob, use steal and get the gold from it u would have got if u would have killed it. u cant steal anything the mob is equiping. and to prevent abuse of the skill, u cant steal anything more from the mob til it has been killed and it repops. of course u can prevent stealing from super mobs as well.
well, u get steal relatively early in the game. if u happen to be in a place, lets use hoch, u can try to steal from the guards or something to possibly buy some piece of eq. kinda saves a bit of time instead of killing the guard itself. Or in an aggro area, u can hide and steal from a mob and get something from them. im just trying to think of a use since it is there already but cant be used.
If you can manage all this, you could easily kill it anyway, and get experience AND all his items, including the equipped ones.voska wrote:maybe if u sleeped the guard it can be possible, but in order to do that, u need to have a magic user for a second class, then it may seem plausable to steel eq

i agree with voska on the steal ability we need to steal item from guards and have a edge all the rogue skills combo can make your foe uesless if you combine then right, one examine: Disarm, Flee, Steal item from players/mobs P.S. we have guild that are going to war with each other and they should be able to steal from one other. i know alot of combination for rogue but like people that hold serect. i keep them to myself.

zidane i cant help but notice like every one of your fighting strats involve flee why? havnt you ever concidered i dont know FIGHTING? i mean rogues arnt exactly helpless well they are if you dont knwo what your doing and no under NO cercumstances should you be aloud to steal from other players i have spent to much time money and glory getting my eq set up if it were to get stolen i would flip

Anyway, mobs with spec_thief only steal gold so then we'd at least be equal to them

This can be fixed, I know a system that might work for here
If you want Steal to work on players You can put a "steal" sticker or what ever on the player that the thief steals from so he cant steal from the same target more then once in say a 24 or 48 hour period.
If you want it for monsters only i say use this system i seen before , This mob drops 50 gold normaly, Steal/pickpocket would give the thief a chance to find a % more "little extra"Goodies the baddy may have on him that when he dies dont always show
So the thief steal and passes ,Finds 5 extra gold and then kills the mob for the normal 50. Not to powerful and cant really be abused..
Should have a timer on it as well so a thief cant steal from the same mob more then once and cant spam steal massive mobs in low level areas

when you say 24 or 48 hours? does this mean game time or real-time?
I think "Steal" should be for items and pocketpick (not to interfer with picklock) can be use for gold. Rogue need to steal a item from the inventory. Maybe add limit to the steal ability not to steal magical items or bless item. So no one can abuse the steal command to steal a Portal.
This sound like a good idea but we have a common runeword with a percentage. We all know and can ask pubically ask for "fortune" and if bard players a song that gives %5 of mini-fortune.
