What about different Nationalities/Ethnicities for Humans?

Post by Avestifal »

What if Humans had different nationalities?

For instance here's an example

type character's name:

Ksotu

Is Ksotu your name? (y/n) Y

What is your ethnicity/nationality?

Oriental +2 wisdom
Nomad +2 constitution
Oceanic +2 dexterity
Northman +2 strength
Westerner +2 intelligence

Oriental

Is oriental your chosen nationality? (y/n) Y

Choose a class:

Ninja (thief)
Samurai (warrior)
Sage (mage)
Guru (cleric)
Monk (paladin)
Minstrel (bard)
Ken-sai (ranger)

That kinda thing, each nationality would have a class equivalent. That would be a new uniqueness to Humans that wouldn't involve them getting any stat boosts but would increase their played-ness.

And then gave them starsigns as well, this would leave the humans pretty much as they are, and make them infinitely cooler, cause everyone loves ninjas and samurai.

I must say I would only like to see this idea come in if its for all races. Not all elves come from one little corner of the world, etc. And changed names for the types, since its based a little of RL type names. (Yes i realize it was just to explain your idea) To do this however i think the continents and oceans need to be named, along with the nations when they come in etc. Many muds have starter cities you can choose from. Though i dont think it should be complex right off the bat since i didnt really like that. Id like to see a complete world map. (btw i dont mean that i want all the areas listed on the map since that takes away from exploration, just major cities and nations). On that note it might be funny if there were border crossing points on the main roads. This allows for tolls, random encounters with the nations rangers/warriors if you try to sneak across etc. Could be fun. It would make the idea complete i think.

Btw plz notify me if this is off topic. Ill move it somewhere else. The idea developed from the original race nationalities :P

Aye, that idea for all races would be good :)

And I believe I mentioned something about a large world map myself on one of my other threads, I think a bunch of leveling area's should be on said map, but for area's like galin's quest, those should not be on it. That way it still makes players explore, yet doesn't have newbies shrieking and hollering about finding places to level.

I like this...and this could also tie into a PK system. When you join a guild, your citizenship changes to the guild's home. If you leave the guild, you either go back to your original or stay in the new one.
