Perhaps joining a family should replace vowing? IE, you can't speak on OOC unless you are in a family.
This would clear up a lot of the issues I have with the vowing system. Think about it, it makes you responsible for whoever is in your family, because there is already family code in place that allows for your family to be assigned negative traits if something overly bad is done, like a stat penalty.
Also, it would encourage more usage of the family system. I do, however, feel that you should be able to opt out, maybe if you get to tri-av without joining a family, you get access to OOC regardless?
possible family idea

The stat penalty thing is already in. Thats a part of families since Celeborn integrated them. You can also get stat bonuses, etc. Bloodlines, I think they were called.lingolas wrote:what about new players? who will adopt them?
as for the stat penalty. i dont like that idea. I really dont want to be punished for cousin's cousin's foolishness.
Anyway, new players would be adopted by whoever was willing to take them in. If they can't get adopted or integrated into a family, well they can still get access to ooc when they hit tri-av.
They are manually assigned by a caretaker, or maybe even Celeborn. Pretty sure it only happens when you have done something to earn it, not just a simple request.voska wrote:can someone post what causes the penalties and what causes the bonuses? also say how big the family has to be to get the penalties/bonuses?
