Mud Moved

Post by Celeborn »

Hi all,

Hope things are going alright for everyone!

The mud has moved to a brand new server in Chicago, IL, USA! (Boss retired old server in Amsterdam, NL, Europe, so can't host there anymore.) Everything's been patched up to work on the new platform. I've had to patch up a lot, so expect a few crashes and Keep your good stuff in storage.

I don't plan to actively develop DL in the near future, but I will fix crash issues and keep it online. If you discover any crashing issues, post in this thread.

biggest lag/crash issue ive found so far is the dungeons that you can find while map hunting. if you could disable those it would help with some of the lag/crashes.

Celeborn, these are a list of the most important emergency bugs i can find, we need them fixed, now, please...

Newbie room script no longer runs and traps ANY new character, newbie or alt, in that room, only way to exit is to die or be party gathered, this HAS been tested.

Chest picking is SEVERELY broken and randomizes itself, talk to skyzzik for more info, hes upset about it.

Dunno if this is a bug or just a severe annoyance, but the craft checks (where you make an mp to continue leveling), doesnt seem to be happening, but we cant make an mp to surpass the check when at that level.

We love you epic intergattion, but we need a HUGE fix to stop the powerleveling, you need to buff the monsters up according to their level increase, people are taking advantage of the current system where monsters are as easy as pancakes. Thess had a bit more to say about it then i did, refer to her for her rant about it.

Crafting is NOT broken. I have rolled many superiors and an mp since the server move. You guys are just unlucky.

other broken things that arnt as important, but would be nice if fixed/changed.

Potions that are crafted are all bovine flu.

templas/bindis are reversed when transmuting them (transmuting a bindi is based off of templas level, and transmuting a templas is based off of bindi level)

there are several items that can be crafter but not transmuted such as neck eq.

it would be nice is mob item levels capped at e950 just like crafting, so that it would be possible to transmute.

fossilized eggs arnt loading in the new mines.

the world map isnt purging like it used too or reboot, causing lag when stuff gets built up

the mines dont seem to regenerate after an area is mined out

bone greaves/bone gauntlets dont seem to be popping in epics anymore (they are a fairly important piece of eq to some of us)

thats all i can think of for now, ill add more as i think of it.

btw i will point out that one of the bugs nimi pointed out is more serious tht he makes it sound. The mines are not regenerating. if it doesnt get fixed, one of these days we will run out of materials...then what? :(

Cele, we know you were on and nerfed the e1K infini-pop mobs, and while I'm happy that balance issues were addressed, we have actual BROKEN things.

1. I have tens of thousands of chests to sort through, most of them locked. Pick lock is broken.

2. I have a new character I want to make and we want new players, right? We're getting 0 now because the newbie room is broken.

There are runarounds to both of these issues, but we are getting 0 new players while the newbie room is broken, and I know you don't want that.

I'm doing my best to keep the players we have and I've brought back a couple of old players. Not sure how long I can keep them with the MUD like this though... :/

yeah.....I'm surprised we still /have/ players, after people saw that the real issues with the mud didnt get resolved this past weekend. People were talking about leaving, so I'm just glad we still have players.

i'm currently taking a short break from dl for real life, but i will be coming back sooner or later. i hope some of the issues are resolved when i do come back, but please remember that celeborn has a life too, and that this game is provided to us for free, and out of the kindness of cele's heart. If he doesn't have the time or motivation to work on it now, just be patient, he will eventually.
