So what's next? (Patch of the Black Cat)

Post by Celeborn »

What's next? :) Given the state of DL, what is the logical next thing to add/improve/replace? :P

- Similar godforge things for crafts like whittle/tailor.
- Gauntlet bug (currently can't finish it without game crashing)
- Have bonuses for characters depending on epic class title
- Make areas enterable within layers of the world map (for instance entering an underground area while mining)
- HQ mob eq in epics
- Being able to capitilize your engravings
- Fix missing doors that magically appear after you go through that room's exit (dragon epics)
- Tweak baboos drop rates (too many hp/mana/move baboos pop not enough others to even slightly meet the enchanting demands)
- Have different tier epic dungeons for different tiers of xp.

That is all for now... I'll think of more later and try to elaborate lol... *bows*

I would caution that before we add any new things, lets make sure that all the old things are working properly. I believe that there is at least 500 bugs on the bug list. Also, it would be nice to have new areas too. Most of Alora is underpopulated.

I would agree with Lingolas. While new things would be wonderful and fun, you can't build on top of rot, or sand. We need a solid foundation. If we can fix the many bugs we have already, we'll be set for new updates, and the game will be running smoother than it has in a while.

*dripping in sweat* Only *wheeze* 75ish *gasp* open bugreports *wheeze* left. The rest are typo's. :p Another night or two and the backlog should be gone :) I tried to get as many of the old lingering bugs out of the way as possible.

Now I need some positive ideas for the patch!

Wheeeeeee,

I've limited pvp attacks to elementals for now since I remember a lot of 'what the bleep is my pet doing now' bugs pvp wise. I've got some plans that give you more control over your minions (and yourself) in a fight so in the future. (Don't forget to post a bug, you get boonies for fixed bugs now! :P)

I've focused mainly on getting mud gold flowing again and making things like building (Quests and areas) more accessible to the rest of the caretakers.
Now I'm looking for things that will increase player enjoyment. I've got some plans, but there are lot of fixes/ changes/ improvements that are obvious to you guys but I won't pick up on myself since I do not actively play (err, I haven't gotten past level 6 yet :P I seem to have the tendancy to pick the weakest and most horrible combinations possible).

if you want to try playing through, an easy build is pally half-orc pentagram ooze.

by the way, pentagram is pretty much the standard starsign. perhaps the others could do with some up-sprucing

I just want to point out to everyone that Celeborn has implemented so many ideas that we requested in the past. I've been begging for the glorypools to come back and now they're here :) Whatever you post here, will probably be added...*cough*in3years*Cough*

I've re-read the whole suggestion forum and picked out the cherries so to speak. There was a noticable gap of ideas in 2006 :P

damroll baboos still need to pop more often

for the small amount that's on each baboo, they need to be WAY more common to meet the demand

again i find myself agreeing with chilli, 1k damroll is standard for epics now, and with the amount of dam roll baboos, its hard to get enough damroll to survive epics

well... hard isnt really a good word for it, its much harder than "hard"

Just had a thought... so I THOUGHT I'd throw it on the table. :P What if willpower was to work the same way with certain spells between pvp as it does players. For instance astral'ing to a pvp if you're a pvp could be blocked with enough willpower. I know some spells currently do work this way, but other spells could be beneficial to pvp tactics. Just a thought, everyone throw in a lil tid-bit, curious about the feedback on this one.

me and cele discussed it a bit, and we think improving the ancestries/starsigns that people dont use is a good idea, but first we need to know why people dont use the ones that are avoided. I am also interested in why we dont use certain races if people could shed a bit of light on that as well. Input will be appreciated

at this point in time there are a few "uber" races

satyr is one (im sure most people wont agree) because he dosnt have to be a bard to have a song book, which is a new enchantable space

Grig seems to be one as well, because of its speed (and balance?)

orc/half orc because of their damage reduction

pixie/moon elf, because of their complexity boost

and ogre, because of its HP and double inventory space.

(if i have missed any please let me know)

the rest just.. arnt as good, the only reason for playing anything else would be RP reason, which most people nowdays dont include in character building

i think it would be interesting if you had to actually lead the things you release from cocoons in spider epics to the slab, instead of just making it sleep and assuming it gets out okay!

I've run through all the bugs I could care to for this week :p X_X *twitch* If you happen to have some characters from 2006 sitting idly pop them on for a sec to collect any bug rewards. ;)

Think its time for something fun for me soon :P *cackle* *CACKLE*
