player wipe

from rumors ive been hering for a while it seems that: to truly clean DL up what we need is a player wipe. i myself am not thrilled about loosing everything i have worked for, but lets get to the point, would you rather have everything you have now and play a broken DL that is dieing? or would you rather let cele do a player wipe and start over fresh on a fixed DL? personally i support starting over fresh and playing the fixed version. but thats what this post is about, lets hear how you all feel. i would have turned this into a poll but for some reason i cant seem to do it. so post what you think, and any other coments the apply to this situation, but please stay on topic and no flaming

i dunno, i'd kind of like to see a pwipe, because i can see it having its advantages, but... would they outweigh the disadvantages? you'd have AT LEAST half the MUD complaining about losing their valuable stuff, but it would definatly let people remember what it was like to be new, but do we really all want to start over?

I have to say i would quit with a pwipe. There are a ton of irrepaceble things (because only imms can make them/make getting them possible) and i wouldnt like it because of the thing called namestealing. People taking other peoples names and them ruining their rep and possibly their ability to play because of the fact that they had that name before. Think about it.

PWIPE: Zidane takes the name Nimisis, He then runs around and mass murders everybody, nimisis makes a character named Nemisis or something, imms pin him because he used to be nimisis? get the point?

I personally dont think that we should have a player wipe. Yes it would fix DL, but most of the players will leave. There are some quest items that players have that will never get back if we do have a player wipe. If we do have a player wipe everyone will just complain about having to remake all their characters, crafts, etc. A lot of us players sometimes dont have all the time in the world to remake our characters. This is just of course my opinion but I think that people would most likely agree to not have a player wipe.

the problem with name stealing could be fixed, and the quest items, and other such items could be reimbursed after a pwipe, i understand that people do not wish to remake ever char that they own, but at this point i think its a question of loosing our old chars, or loosing DL

Well, the idea of the pwipe fixing DL sounds good in a way, but players losing everything to start over again isn't. The majority would complain and possibly leave. I would hate to start over again personally, but I would not leave. There is also the rumor of Ashaman or w/e its called. Like DL2 pretty much. If this is true, and the new DL starts, that could be a fresh start instead of hurting the player base as it is.

you can have the CT's make a log of the important stuff before the pwipe happens

i personally wouldn't care, but as other people have said, i wouldn't want half the pbase to leave in frustration.

thats why i said you could have an imm make the logs, that way they know its not tampered with, but the problem has been fixed thus far, lets just hope it dosnt happen again for awhile
