Interesting link

Ok... before you click on the link, I'm just posting this for the sake of posting it. There are no alterior motives and I'm not pointing fingers at anyone. Found the link on a mud thats been doing the death spiral for... 3 or 4 years now. Enjoy.

kinda funny, but i do think there's a flaw there, the author of that page is using the premise that players do not want things changed.
And, that players do not want things to be made more challenging.

Perhaps Dark Legacy's players are more evolved than the mud that the webpage was created for :)

But yeah, the rest of it pretty much sums it up :P

Not necessarily. Whenever there's a change there will always be people bitching about something or another.

I agree with the premise on change within a certain time period. If two years later people are just know noticing "wow, such and such class is overpowered" changing something thats been around for so long is bound to incite riots.

But if its something brand new thats maybe... 2 weeks old, then change is ok.

Hey, its a history of DL!

*thinks back to prism magic, balance/jab/thrust/lunge, headbutt nerf, queue system, overcharging nerf/exploding jewellery, speed/breath nerf, Isabelle's transformation from "great imm" to "fat evil player-eating monster" to "moderately evil but still decent imm"*

Oh and Isa, I don't think it assumed players don't want things changed; It's about how *you* go about making changes. Take, for example, overcharging. It was in the game for quite a while, and had become a standard part of gameplay for most players with the means to get it. Then, with no warning, it disappears one day AND we find oursevelves exploding and dying with no idea why, and our jewellery that we worked hard to get disappearing. According to my interpretation of the ideas put forth on that page, you(or Celeborn, or whoever did it) shouldn't have just up and decided that something that's been in use for a long time is overpowered, and abruptly change it in a way that harms your players.

Same thing goes for the changes to identification changes to enchanting and shops; something that players have relied upon for a long time is abruptly changed and causes everyone extreme inconvenience, because you(or whoever is responsible) decided that you want things to be a certain way, and the players be damned.

That webpage sounded a LOT like what I've said in the past(though with considerably less profanity), didn't it?

Edited for spelling...oops

it was the greater being who fixed it

it was not a change, it was a bug that was not intended, the bug was fixed

If you feel like reading the ideas and suggestions section, you will see that nearly all the players want some form of balance, it's not the caretakers. I personally, do not care :) However, you (the players) do care, and you (the players) all post your concerns about things which you think need to be improved upon, or tweaked.
