Update!
So, we got in the hospital around 8:45PM last night. Got put in the observation room with fairly strong to mild contractions. Gross detail for you: Just before she left she was passing her muccus plug. So we get there, got hooked up, beep beep beep. They gave her some medicine that does one of two this: First, more often, it calms contractions and helps stop them. Second, less often, it induces because the relaxing allows the cervix to dilate. When they checked she was 1cm dilated, which isn't much and you can sometimes be at that point for weeks.
Okay, finally went asleep around 1am. around 5am-ish it seems she had her water break. The doctor finally came in and told us he'd decided to induce her. Contractions were actually calmer at this point but okay, he's the doctor
.. So we get moved into a real labor/delivery room. They start her on the stuff, give her the pain meds via epidermal (probably misspelled.. its pain killers straight to the spine, wheee). Checked her again, 2cm dilated, but the next time they checked no change.
So, they stopped the first medicine at 4pm today, let it wear off some so she could eat. At 5:25pm they started the second medicine which isn't to induce labor (though it sometimes does) but to help dilate her and thin her cervix. She's on that for the next 12 hours and then they'll start the first medicine again.
So whee. I have a laptop and 56k and can be found around on irc, DL and msn.

Oh wow, she could go anytime if they're giving her meds to thin out her cervix and help her dialate. If they suggest morphine for anything, be warned because it'll speed up her dialation...but I doubt they'll give it to her after a certain point...though they did give it to me at 2cm and I went to 5cm in 45 minutes...with my last pregnancy, I started contracting with no dialation at all, but my water broke 45 minutes after I got to the ER and I started contracting at 1:45pm (it finally broke at 7:40pm)
I can see why they're taking their time, since she's less than 37 weeks, but if her water already broke, I can't imagine them waiting much longer. And nah it's not gross, some people just need thicker stomachs

Quickie update
It is 4am and they let me off all the monitors and gave me the chance to take a shower before the fun stuff begings. I have been feeling sore all night. They may still end up doing a Cecarian if I do not progress. Zoe is being stubborn. But that is good as it gives her more time for her lungs to develop. Ferret is chilling on the sleeper couch thingy that they have. We got a good, drugged (atleast I did), sleep last night. And I feel ready to get this over with.
Zoe may be just fine when she is born or she may need to spend up to 2 weeks in the hospital so they can help her with her breathing. I am actually alright with this and have come to terms with it. As long as she is happy and healthy and gets the best in care, we will be fine.

We're back at home now. Long story short, the doctor on-call changed from the guy we barely knew to a guy we knew better. He re-evaluated everything and decided to stop the induction. We also found out her water had NOT broken, despite the previous doctor assuring us it had and that the nurses had tested for it. They did an ultrasound to check up on everything and everything is good to go and on spot. She's a bit heavy at 6 pounds 5 ounces but no where near any "danger" zones. She's double checked and confirmed as still being a girl too
Katie's on "strict" bedrest now, and should be fine for a while yet.

That's the email I sent in to work. All:
Well. This is starting to feel like deja vu. Katie is back in the hospital tonight, to be observed. Tomorrow morning they will be performing a test to check the developement of the baby's lungs. If they feel the lungs are well enough developed, they will be inducing and/or having a C-Section. If they aren't, she is going to have to stay at the hospital for the next two weeks until 37th week, at which time they'll then induce/C-Section. This is due to concern over blood pressure, side effects of the drugs they used on her the past two days, etc.
So its either baby in the next 48 hours, or in two weeks.
I will be in tomorrow for most of the day, though I may have to leave sometime towards the afternoon depending on what they decide after the test.
Thanks,
Michael
