Forum bots

is there any way to stop forum bots here permanently? like, how do they target the forums. is one of the (possibly former?) players here spamming us with these bots? if so, is there an ip that theyre all from, or is it like a static ip so it can't be banned?

Unrelated to DL. Just spammers.

They love phpbb. I'm banning their normal email domains to stop registration. Not an incredible amount I can do to stop them. I switched gamehavoc.com from phpbb to vbb to get rid of them. (Not a single bot registered since)

vbb costs $160 for a license though.

they're programs that come onto forums (such as this one), and spam random stuff. sometimes they use context from other posts to make their posts seem relevant, but they rarely, if ever, work, and it's good that they've been stopped/locked very quickly after seeing (yay zeraphin)

I have them on my forums too... There are some things you can do about them, but it's not easy...

I'd have to look it up...
