Server Update

To Caretakers and GMs
is it possible to place a server status report on the homepage
to inform players of server updates and how long will it take
before the update is done so we don't have to check every 1hr
to see if we are able to logon.

are you having trouble connecting?
the mud hasnt been down / or offline as far as i know. And as of this minute its still up.
If you are having difficulties, wait 4 minutes, and try again, if its not up, it has crashed. (Generally, even when it crashes, it still reboots itself after a few minutes)
When Celeborn introduces new patches, he doesn't patch the one that people are playing on. Generally, he patches a copy of the mud, and when its ready, he simply uploads it. Then it's only a matter of a reboot (60 seconds) to make the new changes active.

It's possible that you've just been super unlucky and have been connecting when it has crashed. If you can't logon today, you have other problems, check firewall settings, and client settings.
Try a different client to see if it solves the problem.
(zmud, mushclient, tintin, mudmage, etc)

i remember one time when the lag was so bad, i couldn't even relog for 5 hours. That was the Uber-lag of death. ever since then i've started to save my progress so it isn't lost in a loop. it happened again yesterday and i finally gave up and tried again this morning.

server looping

these loops need urgent attending to. 2 nights in a row, the mud has crashed around midnight, and each time it's been over 10 hours before it's come back on again. Cele needs to look into this or he's going to start losing players because there are some players who can only get on at that time, or the loop occurs during the period of time that they are able to get on.

Arent you being just a little bit melodramatic Chubbs?
Wow 2 nights of no DL, got some withdrawal symptoms huh?
Im pretty sure that Celeborn and co. would fix it ASAP without all the complaining...

no..I don't think I am. We've had an influx of newbies lately, and as new players to the game, they will get fed up rather quickly at not being able to connect..and just go in search of something else. Withdrawal? Hell n...well, maybe a little, but the point is..when people can't do something they want to do..they tend to find something else to do.

I vouch for every player here.

It HAS been down several times. Question isn't about luck, it's about where have YOU been to bring it back up.

Because I can't believe you didn't notice the loops, not to mention the crashes every hour
EDIT: And this isn't said with sarcasm. But every player here is saying there were problems, believe them
Btw...another crash...3 minutes ago

Did you see that one?

I have to say Chubbs that DL having a couple bad days of looping/crashing isn't going to cause people to leave. I can think of two reasons right now why people
have left. But yes, on the other hand, there have been been a lot of crashes/looping for the last month - more so in any given time that I can think of.

On the contrary, sir, YOU were the one who was shafted. I gave him Quintos' soul. Never paid a dime out of my own pocket/soul.

damnit I never thought about that :/
Oh well..I'll just borrow Kazin's when he's not looking,....and since he never reads the forums..ever..then he won't ever know

Ah...you might want to find someone else. I already traded Kazin's soul to Isa for a cookie.
....I was really hungry, and I wasn't about to sell MY soul for a cookie.
