maximum level restrictions

i have removed nearly all enforced level restrictions on areas
if you find more, post here.
Bangrath will continue to be enforced
Ivory Keep will continue to be enforced
but all 'max level restrictions' are/will be removed.
NOTE: Before, i would get 8-10 complaints "PER DAY" about high level players being bored, and basically making newbies lives hell for levelling, by either hiding all the low level mobs from them, or by just running through each room for the sole purpose of killing everything in an area.
If it goes back to that, what do you guys feel is an appropriate punishment? deletion, or a wipe of all equipment?
NEXT: If i catch anyone powerlevelling someone in these areas, same punishment.
Hopefully Celeborn will come up with a plan so that we will not need to enforce these rules.
(the mud will handle it)

I think that de-levelling would be an appropriate punishment. If they like levelling lowbies so much....turn them into one so they can level themselves ^_^

Here you see Lily's Cottage (lvl 14-17).
A voice in your mind says, 'There is nothing more for you down that path.'

Methinks a legal definition of "power leveling" is in order.
To me, abuse of subdue command is power leveling. Healing multiple times during combat so someone can fight a mob way too high 'for their range' is power leveling.
However, in my humble oppion, following someone around to "save their stupid arse" when they do something stupid is not power leveling. Especially feel that way when you consider you can't range res people in certain areas. As Isabelle once quoted, she would rather have someone follow you and help you as a party member then hear about OOC heals, and Range-world spells. Giving some basic minor spell-ups in my mind is also not power leveling.
I would certainly love to hear a Caretakers views on what defines power leveling, or assisting too much.

Help powerlevel:
Code: Select all
Here on Dark Legacy, we are trying to encourage a friendly, social, and fun
atmosphere in the game. However, our other goal is to create a mud where there
are an abundance of things to do, and it is somewhat of a challenge to level a
character and excel on here. Which brings us to the point: Powerlevelling.
Powerlevelling is basically where one person helps another person in excess
and/or repeatedly causing them to directly or indirectly level much faster
then they would normally (or independently). Now this does NOT mean grouping
with someone. In fact, we highly encourage grouping and teamwork on Dark
Legacy, just as we also encourage an occasional spellup and/or healing
of a friend or stranger. Also, it certainly does not mean to avoid helping with
corpse retrievals and the like. Powerleveling does include things like
repeatedly spelling up and/or equipping the same person again and again. It
also includes things like grouping with someone to help them hurt a mob and
then intentionally fleeing so just one person gets experience for the kill. It
also includes spelling down a mob or casting weakening spells on it so that
it's much easier for another player to kill. It also includes when one person
watches another person fight and keeps healing them in combat so that the
person fighting has no risk of death and avoids having to flee where normally
without the help they would have.
Basically, any of the above mentioned things IN MODERATION is fine. However,
intentionally doing any of these things repeatedly is considered powerlevelling
and is therefore against the rules of Dark Legacy.
If an Immortal witnesses such an act of Powerlevelling, the discipline is up
to the Immortal. Intolerable attitudes and/or repeated offenders who
break this or any other rule on here will not be dealt with lightly.
The goal of the game is to have fun. A large part of that fun comes from
overcoming challenging situations. Powerlevelling/powerassisting removes the
challenge from the game and thus removes the fun too.

ALSO:
in order to format the areas list neater I believe this entry:

As you have said in your map thread Lingolas, you are biased, and thus unsuitable for a caretaker position.

Vogar on the otherhand would make a great RP Caretaker. We can just picture the immortal Thor or some such.... Drunk and throwing thunder bolts at scattering pixies on the earth below....
Thor peers intently about his surroundings for thieves no doubt.
Thor says, "What? A pixie having fun!"
Thor screams, "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Thor smashes another pixie with the heel of a boot that covers a full acre.
Thor grinds his heel into the countryside, creating a small lake.

Somehow I think both of you are WAY too biased, but at least Vogar is qualified...I mean Lingolas...RP...nice try. Sorry buddy.

Biased? You mean there are people (other then pixies) that like pixies?

Who says pixies like pixies? I'm one, and I certainly don't like us.

With all the pixie-hugging Caretakers we have now, surely a less biased Caretaker is in order. One with a beard instead of wings! One the drinks beer instead of eating cookies! Vogar for Caretaker. He is a normal guy, just like you.

Whoever said that Titans liked Pixies or gnomes or dwarfs or humans or any other race?

While some Caretakers may speak softly, and carry a big stick. I, Vogar, burp loudly, and carry an AXE! Vogar Eol, a Caretaker you could trust to Smite pixies.

i think i should be a care taker. here are a few reasons: 1. i am well liked and love to help people. 2. i dont HATE anyone or even strongly dislike them. 3. i am on as much or more than kiasyn is here recently and plan to be on even more. 3. i havent gotten in trouble with the law in a long time and dont plan on it, ever. 4. i really like DL and accept any changes that celeborn feels like making, but i still listen to people nag about how much they hate it and dont get really angry with them over it, right or wrong. and last but not least 5. Same as number one
