More Eq for pets/Epic pets

I suggest either Epic Pets (let pets go into epic leveling after 50 levels) and more pieces of eq for pets.

I think more eq should depend on the pet though. IE: Dog's have collars and muzzles...I hate those dogs I see in those Superman costumes on Halloween :X...while other types of pets have different types...Probably have Pet EQ as an option like Weapons under forge. This could also be restricted to only some skills, and (maybe) even required if you want to use some skills. An example of this would be that pets could have saddles (maybe reins too) but only if they have the saddle skill, and it could give bonuses to that.

I agree. For instance:

Horses get reins, a headplate, a saddle, and that weird little tunic medieval knights would toss over them.

Dogs get a spiked collar with a bell. same with cats.

Gryphons get stuff much like horses, but maybe also wing guards.

Dragons would get maybe a tail spike as well as wing guards and a breast plate.

The idea of equipment could also make some of the less popular pets more popular do to more eq choices. There is one problem though, makes pets like hamsters even more useless because...how many pieces of eq can a hamster wear?

you can get harnesses and stuff for small animals (rodents... like hamsters and rabbits and stuff) irl... so you could have that in game :P

:P and since you can make epic lvl pet collars ( i have an e300 pet collar :P) then why shouldnt we have epic pets? :)

I'm thinking that hamsters should be changed to be GIANT hamsters! So that way the itty bitty pixies can have an itty bitty mount :P

chances are good you would not have equipment for spirit-based pets

unless it was some sort of magical eq?

but, eq for spirit pets throws rp out the door, all depends on what you guys want :)

and, i like harness' and stuff for pets, to a point, but i don't agree with epic level pets.
epic level 300 dragon, with epic level 300 eq, could be fine, as long as celeborn changes max enchantment on pet eq to be very very little :)

Depends on the amount of eq they can wear :p

Not necessarily. Why not think up spirit eq? fey, will o' wisp, sprite are the three spirit pets.
imps, dragonettes and golems are material

Why not some sort of ethereal pendant or something, or like a bindi (not as in jewelry type so dont start whining about extra enchantment or whatever) or something, you can mb add elemental runes to affect the type of pet. ie. bindi with fire rune -> fiery Fey, plus extra enchants.
Since some of em dont have a set form, you can create a sort of "runestone" which when placed on the pet gets incorporated into their being, blablabla :)
Just have to be creative...

but..

how do you put a runestone on a spirit pet? :)

magical or otherwise, it will fall to the ground :)

and, if you had spirit eq, how would you hold something that was ethereal :)

Unless, the eq was held by the pet owner, and then the magic inside was then imparted to the pet, thus allowing it to not hold anything.

(owner wears a templas of pet harnessing - thus creating an ethereal harness on the pet, when owner removes templas, harness disappears)

very simple...its magic...if its magic it wont fall to the ground...why? magic...tada :)
how do u hold onto an ethereal item? with magic...
how do you incorporate an object into a spirit pet?...magic

Despite its almost moronic simplicity, i think it suffices for the only 3 pets that need it...

Also, the equipment can be magical in nature... not an object, just a magical effect surrounding the spiritual pet - and as such can pass walls and doors.

"Aura" ;)

griffins could get something to go over there talons, something like a talonis weapon, ie metalic claws, actual saddles, bindni's or sillmilar or helmets like a horse. Horses could get a horned helmet to impale foes.

Dogs can wear more then just collars.

In all truth there is really no limit to what you can make armor for. Problems only arise with weight and mobility. Can that hawk fly now? How hard is that weight on a horse? Is your dog able to run and dodge for long?

If you want to talk about horse eq, research the cataphracts of persia. those poor horses wore almost three times thier own weight in armor PLUS a fully-loaded knight. Sure they could only charge short distances and had to do long marches un-equipped, but against infantry they were almost unstoppable. So like Vogar said, the problem with pet armor comes down to weight and mobility. It would be possible to give pets huge encumberance bonuses for each piece of heavy eq they wore.

You obviously have some mistaken beliefs about armor wieght. Even bronze armor isn't three times the weight of a horse.

A full suit of armor (steel) rarely weighs more then about 80 pounds for a normal sized man. That is assuming it is made of propperly fluted, and tempered steel and cover almost all his body. A suit for a horse might weigh three times as much as a man's if made to the same standards. I sincerely doubt most war horses would notice an extra 250 pounds of steel all that much, especially if it was well designed.

y not be able to add an egg and rune into a special incubator to embue the properties together. Kinda like enchanting an egg that continues on to the hatched pet.

EQ for the spirit pet.

Correct me if I am wrong, for it’s been a very long time since I experimented with this spell. The spell Pendant, the alternate of Rose, creates a magical pendent for someone that is worthless as an item. Could this spell be made to work with elemental, race, and fec runes so as to create a decent magical pendant that your spirit pet could wear, or as Isabelle suggested, you could wear to extend its aid to your pet.

Oh, and Vogar Eol, I was going to make the argument that pets could wear many kinds of armor, but you beat me to the punch. A picture is worth a thousand words, and those pictures said it all. Cool. :)
