Lets say you find someone annoying, or just strongly dislike some char in the game. However, they have the power to astral to you. Short of hiding under a rock someplace in a no-astral zone, you can't stop them from showing up whenever they want. (To bug you for money, to ask for better gear, to try and convince you to give them your token, ect...)

Now the question is, if someone astrals to you with the express purpose of communication with you (and the room is otherwise mob empty), and you had a magical wand of "Make Annoying Person Cast Word-of-Recall on Themself" should you be able to use it on them?

Also if such a cool magical wand existed, would it be wrong to just zap anyone that dared astral to you forcing them to recall? What if your a Voider, would it be alright then?

Anyway, would love to hear some thoughts. Just remember that I am talking about forcing recall in a non-aggressive defensive manner to rid yourself of an annoyance. Not to seek out and harass someone with your cool wand.

Strictly speaking from a theoretical perspective it would be very handy to just zap an annoying person away. Practically however this will just lead to fights and harassment will overflow on both sides. For example you zap someone, most likely if they want to annoy you theyll continue to do so in other ways, like sending u 100's of roses or objects or whatever it may be.
So its just one more weapon to irritate the hell out of everyone in my opinion. Im dreading the fact that about 99% of all the annoying ppl on this forum will be gathering wands or making zap-jewelry after reading this thread.

no because it would mean that i have to carry this wand around with me, and 2ndly people who are annoying tend to come back after you ask them to leave you alone. I would simply file a harrassment file after i nicely asked them to leave me alone.

That might work for you, Lingo, but there's a little problem with that for some people. "Harassment" means "entering any type of dispute with another player, whether you start it or not, and being less liked than that player by the Imm who arbitrates said dispute".

Certain Immortals are exceptions to this rule, but who is most likely to arbitrate a dispute?

About the zap thing, i dont think it should come into effect because *some ppl will abuse the power. If the zap thing comes into effect it would make more of a problem *like someone will astral to you and zap you. So its just making other ways for ppl to annoy you. ZAP ZAP ZAP ZAP ZAP ZAP *zaps you all away* (i would abuse the power)

I like my idea in the idea board much much better.

Your point is very good Samius. That was a form of abuse I hadn't even considered. Lets say that the "magical wand" wasn't abused? How about if you were begging someone to make an item for you and they said "Stop begging or I will zap you on the count of ten." You didn't stop, and they zapped you. Would that be harassment to be zapped? Violation of your rights?

Weems, you know I am all for your idea. Also believe Voiders should not be farsightable or Astralable. Those are targeted spells if you ask me

a voider is a human with the Void starsign..immune to magic and cannot cast magic.

If anyone would care to answer me, what would happen if they did exist? I can think of a few things Vogar could use them for, but other people who just want to annoy people with them, like making them recall back to tsq when, say, they're treasurehunting or just afk for a few moments it could be a real pain in the bum.
