Weapon Modification

I think with crafted weaponry, you should get the ability to change them via glory. This would be used to change short/long descriptions and keywords. It would also change weapontypes (expensive) and be able to add min and max damage and possibly even increase attack speed.

Of course, this would be a very expensive thing to do. If you were to change weapontypes, the damage would adjust according to the new type (Axe->Sword results in less damage/Sword->Axe increases) but would not reset the min/max damage. The ability to change the descriptions will still semi-costly (100-200 per?), but not to the same extreme as weapontype changing (1000?).

This would allow for some extra customization and result in some awesome weapons. I would also suggest being able to toggle all the flags (dark, hum, light, glowing, magical, invis, radiant (while not changing the affects of being crowned)) in order to further cosmetically change the weapons.

This could also be used for armor as to change the looks and DR/Mob.

EDIT: Maybe glorify the weapon to this person to prevent abuse of EXTREMELY powerful lowbie weapons and such.

Why limit it to crafted weapons?

I suppose it would work with noncrafted, but as far as I'm aware, there would be no (current) factor for the weapontype conversions.

why make a new thread for this when I have a thread on Customization? ARGH!

Because that deals with customizing the character itself and this deals with weapon modification. :P Figured we might as well discuss them seperately.

OK Here's a new idea...

Like enchanting but you 'drain' the objects name and shortdesc and longdesc, thus giving you the look of one weapon, while you actually have another :D

But then there's no uniqueness...you just have a weapon that looks like a crappier mob weapon. :P
