gem mining

Any adept gem miners out there? I was wondering whats the max number of gems you can get in one mining attempt. My obsidian miner(at 30%) has started to occasionally get 2 obsidian per mining attempt. What is the max? 4? Can you get more than one obsidian per attempt with say, a 100% citrine miner?

i refine obsidian now and have a chance of doubling obsidians. ill be working on sapphire in about 2 weeks.

and for mining i have obsidian.......... 10.48% and counting (i dont mine much and dont have the time). meteorite......... 13.35% tho i know some people should have 100% but now.
