correct :)
its fine if you guys want to make assassins, but don't think for a second that just because you have created them, they will be automatically pardoned.
You do the crime, you will definitely do the time.
And repeat offenders will do much more time

I also want to add, that as JC, I don't feel that we have a 'load' of criminals walking around Alora. It's not like I feel overworked and underpaid.
What I AM frustrated with, however, is when you have someone create a new character, get on newbie chat explicitaly for the purpose of aggravating people, knowing full well that there isn't a caretaker on to stop them, so JC's go running around jailing them, only for them to create a new character again and start the whole process over again.
I also wish JC's had the option of pardoning a player. Since this has already been a topic of discussion on various channels on DL, I shall not go into details. It just would make JC's life a little easier, but I DO understand the reasons behind keeping the system the same.

Underpaid? You don't get paid...if you don't wanna volunteer for whatever your job will entail...quit
I like the idea of assassins. The only problem is...the strong can get money faster than most would pay in the jail time they'd serve. And if you're not strong, who are you gonna kill? There'd need to be some bonus to assassins...maybe they get stuff and only serve 9/10 jail time? >.>

no, there should not be lighter penalties for assassins, what are you /on/?
A hired killer is just someone who goes out and kills the person for money. The bonus they get is the money they get paid. That is all. No special thingies for being an assassin, or else everyone will become one, and then the "special" jail time will be the Normal jail time.
If you are gonna take cash to kill someone, you get the cash and the jail time. That simple.

If you play your character well enough, anything can be beaten. Look at how you lost so much to Laurana one day, and she's more than 300 levels below you.![]()
Umm... I think I'm going to stay out of this... although I am posting which means I'm somewhat in it.
But my official stance is: "No Comment"
Anyhow, back to the topic.
Assassins are a good idea "in theory" but it seems as though there are a few too many ways for it to be exploited. And it just doesnt seem like it will ever ever happen.
I'll throw a few ideas in anyhow though

Assassins should be able to plea-bargain by giving the name of the person who took out the contract in return for a reduced jail sentence. Thus, the person who called in the hit could be stuck in jail for awhile as well.

Please recall that the forum rules request that threads stay on topic, and that moderating will occur if you can't stay cordial and mature in your posting. I don't want to have to delete anything in this thread, so some folks may wish to go click the little Edit button.
That being said, I don't care how long a post is. Its one of the benefits of the forums over the old noteboards that you can post EVERYTHING you have to say on a subject, rather than what you can fit in a note, or two, or three.

pardoning / jc's
i have no problem with justice council members pardoning players, but i do not feel they are 100 percent ready for that yet.
close, but i still need to see more interraction within the council before we go that route, i do not want (1) member pardoning a person without first discussing it with other online justice members, /and/ posting a note with detailed reasons.
Yes, beaurocracy, but needed.

i hope we get more coding done soon about making the players/characters pkilling.Zeraphin wrote:Personally, I don't think attacking players should be possible under normal conditions. Though I think we're better off without peaceful/deadly players split up, I don't think anyone should be able to just attack anyone.
Pkilling should be restricted to:
#1) The arena
#2) Guildwars (If you don't like it, leave the guild)
#3) A config option. Ie, add a config +deadly. If you turn it on, you can fight and be fougth by others similarily configured. Turn it off, you can't get bothered. But then in all honesty, the arena takes care of this. But if you wanted the broader "Deadly" experience, make it a config option, so you can play it most of the time if you want, and if say you go epicing or go running through Xchan against mobiles and don't want to worry about it, turn it off until later.
I never liked the fact that if you WERE deadly, you were stuck that way permanently. People argue that you could kill someone, loot them, then go peaceful to avoid retaliation if it were configurable. If you don't bring looting back though, and require a cool down before "config -deadly" is allowed, its not a problem.
