Safe in what way?
When you download you distribute, which might be illegal where you live (it is here). It is said some anti-piracy corps log the most popular torrents. I personally think their lawsuits are sort of a lottery. Slim chance of getting sued, but when you do, it isn't worth the downloads
Other than that, its a good idea to find a torrent site with comments. The comments will give you a good idea if the torrent is ok or not (virus and trojan free, etc).
