An other sugestion is : whatabout making the hand crossbows wearble in one hand like a pistol crossbow. I like the idea of fighting with a crossbow in my left hand and a sword in my righthand.

I agree with phalanx cause it is named a HAND crossbow but you still wear it in 2 hands so its a bit useless I also love the idea to have a bit more power so 2 crossbows will do

how do you expect to reload a one handed crossbow, after you've fired it's bolt, if you're wielding a sword or other weapon in your other hand?
thats part of the '2 hands' thing..with the larger ones you need 2 hands to hold it, then reload it..with the samller ones, sure..you might be able to hold and fire with 1 hand..but you still need the second one to reload it.

The one way I see to do this is if we had a long delay after using a one-handed crossbow. It would be possible to hold a bolt in one hand while also holding a small sword, but it would make both hands unusable for blocking, parrying, or attacking while reloading and drawing the string.

well use it as a single shot crossbow and reload it after you retreated or just make a reapeater crossbow

A while ago I made a suggestion to have manual reloading weapons such as one-handed crossbows. Some of these weapons would be one handed and allow you to use a sword, or shield, at the same time, while others would take two hands, but possess a great deal of power. There would be a 'load' command for them that would take a few seconds but would use ammunition from either a quiver, or, in the case of weapons with more rare ammunition, the inventory of the character. In order to load the weapon, it would be required to lower your weapons as you do when you drink without a free hand. Of course, these weapons are all either more powerful or more tactical than other ranged weapons.

Yes thats what i actualy mean it would make the figting withour magic a lot more stategic. but if it has to be a repeater crossbow i think u'll have to work with bolt clip's like in dnd.

im pretty sure that in all the crossbows theyve made that they have come across the idea of making a crossbow that would hold many bolts you know like 20 or so and that reload automatically and with 20 or so arrows beign held you prob wouldnt need to reload in the middle of a fight, unless your fighting something that is far too powerful for you in the first place, and then when u finish you are able to "lower your weapon"( as in completely let go of it) and reaload your holder

YEs this are things i also tought up but why inst it possble to wear a crossbow in one hand. it would be verry handy just to hit him with you mellee weapon and if he is nearly dead but he also nearly kills you you run back and shoot him. ofcourse you could also shoot him in the first place then charge him.

Just make it a one shot crossbow... Yes it is possible to load a light crosbow (i could do it with a 40lbs crossbow) with one hand, but then there is no way you can actually fight with the sword aswell...

I've said this before, and I'll say it again.
REALISM DOES NOT MATTER. THE GAME IS NOT REALISTIC.
Do not feel bound by the people who always jump in and tell you something is impossible.
News flash! We can already do tons of impossible things in the game.

why shouldnt a player have a 1 handed crossbow, allowing them to use dual one handed crossbows..
because you need to reload it.. eventually
i dont care if you have a '50 clip reloader' eventually you will run out and need to reload it, with "two" hands
if your characters race has 4 arms, hey, sounds fine to me, use dual crossbows to your hearts content.

People can already do tons of things while having a big freaking weapon in each hand. In fact, you can do pretty much anything!
You just 'lower your weapon'. Thats all. End. If you are going to argue against this idea, use an argument other than realism. Argue against it because you think it would be imbalancing, or lame, or you think its just plain dumb...
But realism? Again, if you think its stupid, try doing some commands in game that would require a free hand in real life, while holding a weapon in each hand. They work. Realism is already LONG gone from Dark-Legacy, never to return.

crossbows can reload themselves, it would be this thing called magic, i think you have heard of it . since it seems to be a big part of the game. it could be an enchantment you put on the crossbow (like enchant weapon, or Holy avenger, only taking up quite a bit of space) that would make it reload on its own, allowing you to dualwield them, and on top of that, depending on how well it is enchanted, it would cause it to shoot faster. there, no realism at all, but then again. neither is magic in the first place

well weems ppl already have big weapns but all ranged weapons are FAR weaker then the most mellee weapons.. by making it able 2 have a 1 handed crossbow you can shoot and weakien your enemy first then use your "big freaking weapon" to kill the enemy..
to: ShanaArkai : you even dont need magic, in the toppic ppl already spoke about the reloader mechanism

If you do it with magic, you should have to pay mana for every shot. like 100 mana per round so you cant light up your target too easily.

If u use a good techincal solution u dont need mana...
see the repeater crossbow part, u can shoot about 10 bolts then reload.
