Jesus christ, that place is expensive. Don't shop there anymore, it's wasting your money. Try these places:

http://www.newegg.com
http://www.mwave.com

I've posted my specs before, but I just bought a GeForce 6600 GT and I thought I'd put in what I hope to have in the next few months:

(some included from old system)
AMD 2700 XP 2GH (overclocked) (original)
1 GB Corsiar DDR 3200 400MHz (overclocked)
2x Hitachi SATA 80GB (7200, 8MB cache), RAID 0 Configuration
120GB Seagate (7200rpm) (original)
XFX 6600 GT AGP (overclocked)
480V PSU, dual fan

Like others have said, newegg.com rocks your socks.
MWAVE is definitely good stuff too.
You could also try pricewatch.com, they price compare MANY online computer resellers, so you can find the cheapest piece of silicon for your buck (minus breast implants).

Abit Motherboard (Not checking the model right now)
AMD Athalon 64 3000+ running at only 1.84GHz usually
1024 MB RAM
Just under 300 GB of hard drive space (discluding the OS partition)
Onboard sound for TV output
ALS4000 soundcard (basically crap, but better than onboard) for music and gaming
Klipsch 2.1 speakers (not checking for the model, but they were still in production as of a few months ago)
ATI Radeon x800 Pro running either dual-monitor or monitor and tv outputs at any time
GF2MX that stays unhooked in case of need for dual-monitor and tv outputs
Win XP Pro
Virtual machines running various OSes from Debian Linux to Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2003
Linksys 10/100 ethernet card (don't feel like checking the model)
Onboard ethernet in case of ethernet card failure and to more easily monitor connections
Single CD/DVD-Burner
Generally 4 Virtual CD/DVD drives running ripped images

Edit: 3 GB -> 300 GB, big typo...

My computer = slow as molasses going uphill on a winter day.
Too many viruses, too much spyware, and i run a cleanup every day to get rid of them all.

:S what OS are you running

Author:  Gilgolad [ Thu Sep 22, 2005 8:42 pm ]
Post subject:

if OS means "online security" then its norton firewall 2003, and notron antivirus 2005.

if you all suggest something different, i dont care, because this computer isnt worth the investment. i'm getting a new one before i head out to college so this one only needs to hold me another year.

all i use it for is viewing flash, playing DL, and e-mails.

9 computers, 7 of which are running at any given time. Rich? No. I just never throw computer parts away, and have the knowledge to put various pieces together. That, and some computers are hand-me-downs that have been scavenged and re-built.

The floppy drive on my primary computer is off of the first computer I ever bought with my own money - a Packard Bell Legend 100 CD

Personal Comp:
AMD XP 2400
1GB Kingston RAM
1x 80GB WD - Win98 partition (boot partition)
2x 40GB WD - Win XP (Raid 0) (system partition)
ATI X850XT (AGP)
Gigabyte GA-7VAXP motherboard
Lian-Li case modded to h*ll and back
(my dremel hates me)

Wife's Comp
AMD XP 2400
512MB RAM
80GB WD HDD - Win XP
ECS motherboard
on-board sound/graphics/LAN
Used for web and office applications - wife is a LiveJournal junkie

Matching His/Hers Laptops
Intel Celeron M 370 1.5GHz
512 MB RAM
40GB HDD - Win XP
15.4 in widescreen
uncle sam was nice in our tax returns last year, and we got them both for under a grand

Kid's Comp
Compaq/HP SR1403WM
AMD Sempron 3000
256MD RAM
80 GB HDD - Win XP
Veggie Tales, Scooby Doo and Jumpstart Kindergarden-4th grade
Kids are 8y, 6y, and 9 months - yes, an image is perpetually ready to be reloaded on this computer.

Backup/File/Print/VPN/Web Server
AMD Thunderbird 1GHZ
1GB RAM
Lots of HDD's from 30 to 250 GB - Win 2000 Server
NVidia RIVA TNT2
work in progress - i need to get 3 matching drives to get RAID 5 going

Test Laptop
Gateway Solo 2500
PII 366 MHZ
192 MB RAM
12 GB HDD - Win 2000 Prof
or whatever flavor of live Linux i happen to want to try out

Utility/Testing computer
PIII 750 MHZ
192 MB RAM
no HDD - Boots from CD-ROM
for low-level formatting/partitioning/live-CD testing

Nostalgia Laptop
486 DX2 50MHZ (i think)
12 MB RAM (!)
320 MB HDD - Win 95
External SCSI Port
just fast enought to run terminal services client, connected to my main PC. Looks like I have Win XP running on it

And thats it. For now.
