30% slower balance drains means that melee characters MUST pick lizardman. If you pick any other race, you are a substandard melee character. I recommend completely removing balance bonuses from races, as even a 10% balance bonus would all but force melee characters to pick that race. Well, actually, Lizardman already have this ability Since last race patch. Maybe you should check it out Nuitari wrote: If you're still putting in starsigns, the furnace and the shield are still overpowered. Don't let that stop you from putting the starsigns in, though, they're really cool. Maybe just tweak those starsigns down a bit to put them more in line with the other choices? Nuitari wrote: Most importantly, players with old races should not be forced to change them. We've kept these characters through several patches, including the last race patch, and suffered through their complete lack of bonuses because we liked their uniqueness. After years of suffering their weakness for the sake of keeping their uniqueness, do you think it's fair to reduce our special characters to lowly illusionary races? Anyone can get illusionary races, and nothing sets an illusionary half-celestial apart from an illusionary minotaur, octopus, Aasmir, or whatever.
Fair enough. I'll check all characters to see what races are left so I can work something out for them.

25% complexity > 30% slower balance drain.
30% slower balance> almost all other racial bonuses in the "new" racepatch ^_~

Exactly. So in this new system you will see people with both a 30% bonus to balance AND a 25% complexity bonus. Ick.

to celeborn,
I think i'm still an original troll and perhaps the last one on the mud. If I am, i MAY decide to keep my original race if it is possible.

All old races will come in line with whatever the new changes are.
It is the fairest way to do it, and it is a step in the right direction for a one day possible 'racial balance'
You will still be you, you can still have your bio saying whatever you want it to say.
In the end, it will be your devoted time to the game, and your equipment, skills, (including player skills) that determine how powerful you are, and won't be decided on by some unfair advantage or disadvantage just because you were playing here before we decided on a better way to do things
It's not unfair to say we want everyones characters to follow the same set of rules as everyone else

Isabelle- technically- a new race would be more powerful than Half-Celestial...they gain a bonus. Celestials have...well...a name.
Here's a question though, would the old races be able to affect their bloodline/innate breeding perks etc?
I.e Half-Celestials/Half-Fiends add a Holy/Unholy taint thingie the the bloodline?

no, old race 'names' would become new.
if celeborn were to do that, he would make half celestials a standard race that anyone could pick.
the idea ia having everyone following the same set of rules, and letting their skills determine how powerful they are

I totally back Sardonyx up on this one... i mean.... it's like Alexiel has weathered all the trails and tribulations(not like i was a very good player to begin with) without changing race and such.... i really wouldn't wanna see the old races go. i'm sure many of the old players feel the same.... i think. do i even make sense? o.O lol.
Sardonyx wrote: I have three small questions. First, some of the older players have maintained characters from the old races that can no longer be created. Such as Half-Celestial, Half-Fiend, Zion ect. With this new race patch will we be forced to change our ancient characters' races? I for one hope not.

Ok, thank you very much Cele, it means a lot to us
Now then:
Suggestions for beastkin:
I see this as a perfect oppurtunity to stop the whole "werewolf/lycanthropy" thing.
Lupin: A cross between a canine and humanoid
Possible Bonuses
+% to spot and search due to enhanced olfactory abilities
+1 con, +1 dex, -2 cha,
Bast: A cross between a feline and a humanoid
Possible Bonuses
+4 dex, -2 con, -2 str
+% to spot for keen eyesight
Darkvision
+ to pick locks
+% to sneak

Bit late Avestifal, Celeborn has already mentioned the Lycanthrope ancestry, which, I feel, is a better way to introduce lycanthropes, as it creates many different races that can transform instead of only a single cross-species.

Well everybody is against the 30% bonus for lizardmen, but I have been a lizardman for over three years on my main character now, and I find the bonus very interesting. Finally lizardmen get something decent imo... True, 30% is a little bitch much maybe, but still, I'd love getting that bonus

balance drains 30% slower due to tail-stability.
- Yeah question , does that still work for Lizardman?
