Post subject:  Some things to help blind players

Hi,
I've been playing dark legacy for a while and as some of you know I'm a blind player. That is the person typing is blind. Anyhow, I had a few ideas on how to make the world map more accessible. Anyhow, here they are:

- A survey command or text description would be helpful. Something like A northwest to southeast road instead of just A road.
-More information about mining maps. Something like mine north for copper would be a grate help.

Anyhow, those are my ideas on the world map. I know for a fact that me and one other person play this game with a visual impairment. If we added features to make the game blind-friendly, I might be able to get a few more blind players.

I thought the exact same thing... I just didn't want to say it because I know people (like Kiasyn here) will jump in and immediately play the ignorant arse card. This merely shows people to be unaccepting themselves, if you make the assumption that someone is being categorized as different merely because they say something that can be percieved in that manner, YOU are rude, not them. They don't know and are asking a legit question, you're making harmful assumptions. tsk tsk.

I've not been on enough to really know about this person, but apparently they've been playing..

About the mining comment; you're not supposed to be able to mine for certain things, that would make mining too easy.

If you type "look north" it should tell you a description about what is north: A cave, or Along the path to Tarsonis. Something along those lines. This however, can be changed by builders when making an area to be quite descriptive, but that's very time consuming.

I'm curious though; can you see the type, or is it read aloud from the computer? Your wording makes it seem as though you have limited vision, so I'm curious as to how exactly you play MUDs.

he says to me he's got a screen reader

also i think he means that there's like text that says where in the mines in the certain room to mine to get what thing

I can't read the text, but I do have some vision. As for this being a joke, it isn't. Withh the mining,I was refering to the map sighted players can see with symbols to represent metals. By the way, I just found out that there's a third blind player asking questions about how to adapt the world map. I'm currently working on getting his ingame name.

That would be Malloc, you, and Darech that are the blind players

Post subject:

That's correct. The blind players are me, darech and his alt eldych, and malloc.

Oh, I see what you mean.. welp..... I have no idea :D

Unless you turn it back to letters and have your reader read it seperately, but that'd be difficult to figure out... so I dunno

unfortunately i can't tell you due to my one-way-ticket to violence

Just make an earth elemental character and you will have the ability to "mine prospect". And then, that will tell you exactly what resource is in what direction. Wonderful, then; have a nice day. :)
