 Post subject: Welcome to Dodge and Defend as 2 new combat skills

AlphaOmega206: i dont know, damage will always be useful, but AR will help me get the crits

jab, thrust, lunge, spin, multistrike, retreat, advance, defend, dodge, flee, bash, cast...

I agree with Weems. Capping AC, but not AR, is unwise. As for Lingo's point about mobs not being able to hit you eventually, well, currently you can't miss them, and you can beat the crap out of them in very short order, so why shouldn't you be able to dominate them defensively as well as offensively? Oh and....unless something's changed since I last calculated, each effective point of ac costs 2250 enchant space. That means, it would cost 675,000 enchant space to enchant 300 points of ac. Three things to point out about that: 1) If someone works hard enough to get sufficient level and quality of equipment that they have 675,000 enchant space, they deserve to enchant 300 ac if they want to. 2) If ac remains capped, that player will just enchant 675,000 enchant space worth of ar and damroll(or maybe resists). Instead of being unhittable, they will slaughter any opponent in a couple of seconds(or less). 3) Once you reach a level where you have that much enchant space, the mobs likely have extremely high ar anyways(although, with the current epic mobs, they have too much dr and damroll, and too little ac and ar at all levels). If you fight, say, e2000(Lingo's stated goal) mobs with ac capped at 100....well, you can guess what will happen.

For players, you have to compare this 300 ac player to other players with 300 ac worth of enchant space. They will have similar stats, and the fight will likely resemble fights between lower-powered characters who have less than 100 ac and ar each; a natural balance. Capping ac disrupts this balance, which is why fights are currently "jab <opponent> head" spammed by both players until the opponent's head falls off, at which point the severing player wins.

For mobs, a player who is of sufficient epic level to have that much enchant space will gain pitifully small amounts of xp from each epic mob, and will need to be able to kill tons of them quickly and efficiently in order to level at something approaching a decent rate(remember the days of 15 xp per mob for you, Lingo?). When you have to kill 300 of them in a row, and lose massive amounts of xp if you lose even once, you can't afford for it to be anything remotely resembling "fair".



Oh and. according to you, Lingo, it is impossible to make MP eq past level e400....if that is true, 300 ac is either impossible, or would require you to accept ar and damroll which are absurdly low compared to your other stats.

i didnt think anyone would take my 300 mobility litterally.
also, alot of my equ are e400 (yes i made or purchased them).
