I think the engraver should do a tad bit more then just change the short desc of the item. For a small amount of glory (maybe 25 glory per piece?) the keyword of the item can be changed.
i.e. The Short desc would be "A blue diamond templas" but the keyword could be "poodle" so, get poodle instead of get templas.
It's late and im not sure of my coherency at this point (I really should read these things before midnight someday...)
Anyhow, back to the engraving. Changing the keyword would not necessarily change the short desc of the item. Engraving and rekeying would be two separate processes.
The reason I'm bringing this up, is because of the pk thread and the concerns about looting. On my last mud (which is where i swiped the idea from
) my pk characters had all of their valuable eq rekeyed so that is was difficult to loot. Very convenient. Kept me from losing my most valuable eq. I think implementing something to that effect would not only be beneficial if pk/looting comes around, but also for characters who have everything they wear engraved and forget exactly what is what
Umm... crap. I lost my train of thought. Anyhow. ummm... flame away everyone.
