I am not 100% sure, but for some reason I want to say that different pets age at different speeds. I never really studied it, though, and this may just be a rumor.

the first 3 years in all my pets always take bout 40 min -60 min, quite weird considering that other's pets age at like 15min-30min.

Note that when you log another alt and return, they restart their aging year. Every crash, restarts the aging year. Etc. They are as was said, between 15-25 mins. If I had to guess, it'd be around 19-20 per year if you're not interrupted by anything. Some people log off more than others, and most like Silvanos and Sardonyx and whatnot, remain logged until their pet reach lvl 3. I say follow their example for pet aging.

I do not have the exact figures to back it up but I am fairly certain that my dragons and balrog aged at a slower rate than many of my assorted menagerie. Perhaps when the mud is back up we should research that.:)

Yeah even staying logged on till they reach 3, im fairly certain some of my pets haven taken hours to get there. The aging cant be constant methinks either cuz Silv's pet is now like 6k+ even tho hes pretty new and imo its inconsistent with his baby year aging.

Do pets ever get so old that they die or lose their combat effectiveness?

Hmm. I wonder...Could perhaps the type of pet have something to do with it? IE: a 0 value ages faster than the highest value? I have no evidence to suggest it would, but then again, I haven't aged many types of pets. Has anyone noticed a pattern based on the egg value pets?

I own two...Sard and Ger probably own at least 2 each...Lingolas...Trevor and Kiasyn I believe...a larger number of people own them than should.

Most people do. They aren't rare anymore.

I agree with nibeian. I've been playing for two frickin years and i only know of a couple. Maybe they're people who live in different time zones so i never see them? This is why prolly alot of people don't know alot of other people who are on DL at opposite times of day.

I have 2, rynlye has 2, sard and ger prolly have a few, pretty sure caerina and eventine have one each, nimisis had one, jimi has one and that was just off the top of my head!

The reason you don't see them is people usually hide them to prevent them breeding even further.l

I have one...hes been assigned to my dwarf mining alt because of the reduction in how cool a Dragon is relative to my other pets. The reason why theyre also not so visible these days is because weve just gone through lets say a year+ where a lot of veteran-types with Dragons have left the game. (Right?) In any case, if there is a drastic reduction of the number of Dragons in the game, ill be very happy.
