FAMILY CREATION PROCEDURE

-You must lack a family.
-type 'family start <lastname>'

Family name rules:
- must be unique.
- longer then 2 and shorter then 25 characters
- Only contain 'a' to 'z' and a space character.

FAMILY LIMITATIONS

- The family code might be expanded at a later date to allow for family names obtained in a different way, like being introduced into a vampire family or guild based family.
- You cannot leave a family. This will not change in the future.

If these limitations prevent you from using families it is best to just use 'title' for a last name.

FAMILY TREE

Every once in a while a graphical tree of your family will be generated on the website, listing all your familymembers and their ties.

CLAIM/ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

Claim Birth:
- One Child.
- Two parents, one male, one female.
- Both parents need to be in a family.
- The child must lack a family.
- Both parents need to be at least 18 years older than the child.

Adoption:
- One child
- Two parents.
- Both parents need to be in a family.
- The child must lack a family.
- Both parents need to be at least two years older than the child.

YOUR INVOLVEMENT AFFECTS YOUR CHILD!

Your child will get one of the following states in the family tree and whois:

Claimed: Both parents married to each other; Child born inside wedlock
Claimed: One/Both of the parents married, but not to the other; Illegitimate Child
Claimed: Other; Child born outside wedlock
Adopted child; adopted child

:: CLAIM/ADOPTION PROCEDURE ::

1. Get the two parents and child together.
2. Select which lastname to pass on; The familyname of the first parent to sign is passed on to the child, so let them sign first ('family adopt <child>' or 'family claim <child>').

If YOU instigate a adoption/claim, your child inherits your ORIGINAL family name, not your spouses if you are using it! (See the 'USING YOUR SPOUSES LASTNAME' lastname below

3. Hand the newly created form to the other parent and let them sign it with 'family sign'.
4. Pass the form to the child and let them 'family sign'.
5. Pass the form back to the first parent, and let them 'family sign' again.
5. Pass the form back to the second parent, and let them 'family sign' again.

Congratulations! Your adoption/claim is now complete!

Post subject:  On using your spouses lastname.

Implemented by popular request:

USING SPOUSES LASTNAME

To make your spouses lastname appear in game take the following steps:

Requirements:
- Make sure you and your partner are married.
- Make sure both you and your spouse are in a family. (different families)

We will be using the following partners as example: Chilliwack Strife and Isabelle Dragonkin, where Isabelle wants to adjust her lastname.

Steps to be performed by the partner who wants to change their lastname.
With your spouse online, type one of the following:

- family spouse single (result: Isabelle Strife)
- family spouse combined (result: Isabelle Strife-Dragonkin)

To reset your lastname, type:
- family spouse own (result: Isabelle Dragonkin)

WARNING

If YOU instigate a adoption/claim, your child inherits YOUR original family name, not your spouses!

Make sure when you borrow your spouses lastname, and you want your children to use your spouses lastname, to let HIM instigate the adoption/claim. (for example, if Isabelle uses 'Isabelle Strife' as a lastname and adopts 'Silvanos', silvanos will get the name 'Silvanos Dragonkin' and not 'Silvanos Strife'.).
