I have not verified this myself, because i'm busy working on other things, but, i received a message saying that mining jade/blue diamonds/diamonds is still very very easy, and mining the other items is (presumably) harder.
He said he received 30 blue diamonds, 30 diamonds, 30 jade within the span of a day.
He thinks the difficulty of mining is set backwards with respect to gemstones.
Perhaps this can be looked at on codeport, or perhaps its not much of a problem with the uipcoming changes, dunno.
I just posted because i said i would.

% - 3-4 uncut gems
; - 2-3 gems
, - 1-2 gems
I posted concerning this on March 21:

Note: I am also having trouble mining up cit/carn with my cit/carn miner. I get more high quality gems than I do the lower gems.
Just wanted to say that I am having the same problem.

I had experienced the same with my gem miners. It definately needs to be fixed, but not with a sledge hammer
However, I do think the sucess rate on a rarer gem would be higher then a common gem, atleast logically it would.
If you found a ruby after sorting through 100 tons of rock crushing each piece, would you take a HECK of a lot of time to remove it without damage?
If every pebble you picked up had atleast a single piece of garnet, how careful would you be about gem extraction? How many would you cast aside for easier to remove ones?
Anyway, thats the way things work in real life. In the game I see no problem with a small nerfing factor for when the stars allign and you find something really rare. Nothing is more depressing then destroying something that took you days to find.
Granted the way things are now do need to be fixed, and I would not be surprised if values were reversed. Just remember that rarity is as much a factor as success rate is.

Well, just remember that none of the gems are rare. Even blue diamonds aren't hard to come by. I see them quite often.

Further comments:
My cit/carn miner gets an average of 1-2 gems per dig as well - IF I am lucky as I destroy most of them.
So if I am getting that through the various of other gems (zircon, diamond, blue diamond etc) via symbols (, ; %), then it's really useless to have a combo gem miner via the new system. I am curious however - if it's really going to be worth unlearning one of the combos - then adepting fulling in say Carnelian or Citrine?
