Yes, I've crawled from under my stone. I've got a vacation coming up, the ideal opportunity to complete the patch!

Anyone willing to help out getting the patch ready can help me try out as much of the following on codeport and reporting on forums:

- Test a PVP fight. Is it possible? any major issues in relation to the patch?
- Try getting a criminal flag by attacking a player. Report results.
- Test flee in battle. Report findings.
- Test recall in battle. Report findings.
- Test charming a mobile. Does it work? report findings.
- Test charming in pvp. Does it work? report findings.
- Test creature summoning spells. report findings.
- Test the summon spell. Report findings.
- Check spell blocking by shields (see patch notes). Report findings.
- Does the cannonball skill work? Report findings.
- Check the sleep spell. Report findings.
- Check if each class gets their roles at creation as specified in the patch notes.
- Check if your pet hunts or attacks enemies by themselves.
- Test pet XP gain. A pet should gain kill XP at the same rate as a player of its level, when it solo's a mob (no player involvement).
- Try it with low level pet, high level player. Report kill XP gains.
- Try it with high level pet, low level player. Report kill XP gains.
- Pet at player level. Report kill XP gains.
- Try getting your pet to attack a player. Report results (criminal flag or no?).
- Test Syringes. (You can get them at lillobee's)

I plan to make some recordings that show me using the bard spells, the new party role system, and the new pet system, so skip trying those for now if they confuse you.

Make sure you read the patch notes; You'll need to optimize your character; for example, many spells will require some Durs now to be effective.

Ok, to go with pets to start out with:

Pets are not recognizing to owners, it acts as if i have none, although it is in my party and i can mount/etc it.

This may be why my 2nd thing i was going to say wasnt working. My pet wasn't auto attacking things. I would have to type order pet thrust, etc if i wanted him to do anything.

Hi Lahvin,

Can you give me some specific examples where it doesn't recognize you as its master (like specific commands) Can you order it around? Is it just one of your character's pets or on all of them? Does stable/unstable fix it?

On the pet issues, one example of the pet not recognizing its owner is:
(huge) Mirage the Dragon is hovering above the floor.
Mirage the Dragon wanders in a dazed, zombie-like state.

Stabling did not fix this. It shows her as part of my party. I can order her to sit, stand, sleep, wake ect. However when I use the commands pet call or pet score all I get is the field showing instructions to hatch an egg.

Syntax: pet <field> [parameters]
-----------------+------------------------------------------------
hatch <name> | Hatch the egg you are holding.
-----------------+------------------------------------------------

Thanks for the details.

It appears the pets you see in game are still 'old' pets, so the new pet command doesn't see them as pets. Pets need a bit of work before they can be properly tested, I'll change the 'to test' list. I'll keep you updated!

** After recalling and fleeing our, however, it leaves the fprompt on thinking I'm still in a fight, but posts the enemy's HP/Mana graph as N/A **


- Test creature summoning spells. report findings. (All testing was done with just the plain prisms, no runes added)


-->-Grey wolf summons normally. Doesn't join fight. Level same as character casting. 4067hp

-Brown bear summons normally. Doesn't join fight. Level same as character casting. 5137hp.

-Familiar summons with a name. Not recognized as your pet. Joins in fights. 1hp

-Vermin summons 3 rats upon cast. Doesn't join fight. Level equal to character who is casting. 455hp


- Check the sleep spell. Report findings.

--> Able to cast in and out of combat. Seems to work normally, except I don't think you're supposed to be able to cast it during combat now?


- Check if each class gets their roles at creation as specified in the patch notes.


--> Game crashes upon character creation through either method of Novice or Advanced. Mage comes created with the Support tactic able to be practiced. Cleric comes with Aft Defense, Roaming Defense, and Support. Rogue comes with Aft Defense, Flank Defense, and Skirmisher. Warrior comes with Aerial Defense, Frontline Defense, and Roaming Defense. Druid comes with Aerial Defense and Roaming Defense. Ranger comes with Flank Defense, Roaming Defense, and Skirmisher. Psionicist comes with Support. Paladin comes with Frontline Defense and Support. Bard comes with Flank Defense and Support.


- Test charming a mobile. Does it work? report findings.

--> Trying to charm mobiles seems to have no effect.

This is what I was able to test by myself, I will need to wait for Raolas or another buddy to log on so I can test the things that require other players. Sorry I couldn't finish 'er up lol. :) Hope it helps.

me and terkal tested pvping today, it constantly says "That person is a pacifist and will not fight" even though you're in the fight.

Peacie on PVP didn't break the law to initiate the fight,

Criminal flags do work, but terkal had to report me for it to appear AFTER murdering him.

After the fight is over the fprompt hangs with the enemy reading N/A.


I think that's it, me and binkly did this before i went to work and that was about 8.5 hours ago so...

Edit: Also, I had to use (murder [player]) to initiate the battle.

Also, all shop keepers refuse to deal with me, stating "The shopkeeper refuses to deal with you.", and I still can't test pets for you. still doing the same thing.

That is caused by your criminal flag. I'll clear it for you.

Is it possible for you guys to pvp again and post a complete log? That extra bit of data helps me diagnose the problem.

Was zenpin part of the fight? Could be her pacifist flag screwed things up.

hya is in the fight with us, we're getting the message, it's hard to tell what we're getting it from because they wont stop following us.



anyhow, terkal needs to use murder during fight to do anything.


he has to type murder raolas to initiate the fight, then when he fights if he jabs it says that would be murder you need to use murder to initiate combat...

This is the right thread. :) Good to see you testing.

Just some notes for who's testing right at this moment, I've got the car hood up so to speak, so a lot of reboots and unfinished features. For example, pets are only partially complete and aren't combat ready yet.

Is this only with elemental traps? For test, could you try facing the elemental? 'face <elemental>'. Thing is your party could be in a fight, hence the fprompt, but you are not participating yet. Do you have autojoin enabled? Could you copy your config here?

When I'm coding on codeport I tend to reboot it a lot, most of the time its me :)

Just some quick stuff (didn't get a good play with pets yet)

Having visible stalkers (and followers, i presume) in an aggro area causes fights (intended?)
eg - I'm invisible in the frost dragon flea area (makes it easier to look for tokens!), but Hyakuhei is visible:

This was with config +autojoin, though. If autojoin is off, I stay invisible and out of the fight (as expected), while Hyakuhei fights.
I think stalkers shouldn't initiate fights, it can be a little annoying if they're following you around and setting off all the mobs, especially if you're invisible to avoid the mobs. Although, config -autojoin and config -stalkers could fix that, so perhaps it was intended.

Can't buy a syringe from lillobee, none listed in the shop (were they taken away for a while?)

Also, my vorpal bunny won't hatch because it has the innate 'sterile' trick (sterile because it's one of the tricks vorpal bunnies get, not because he's low pedigree).

-final quick question, will prepatch pets grow back to their old size or to 100%? (hopefully 100%, i forgot to feed my vorpal bunny ages ago and it stands at a towering 14" :))

I haven't played round with pet levelling yet, will do soon.

Malkier, to answer your question, pets will grow to their species' intended size.

Keep the reports coming! I've added the issues in above posts to my todo list.

Anyone notice getting their spellbook unequipped on codeport? Does it happen the first time you log in or afterwards too?

Yesterday when I logged in my characters had all of their eq, including the spellbook, in their inventory. Today when I logged in They were wearing the eq.

This is when I was levelling a level 9 pet with a level e4 char (It was fighting solo).

Give it another try guys! I updated all characters, accounts, shops and citadels, and added syringes to lillobee's shop.

If you notice your spellbook getting removed, please post a log!

Changes since last patch notes:
  • Strange Markings should no longer take up a magical trick slot
  • Fixed Syphon list
  • Made summoned pets infertile
  • Pet Identify used the wrong names
  • Syphon now functions on infertile eggs only.
  • Identify no longer shows fertile egg traits.
  • Old pet eggs are converted to new eggs. The new pet eggs are unique and cannot stack! Because of this old stacked eggs will turn into a single egg.
  • Gave 'non rare' eggs a free breeding session: Lowest 3 rarity ranks of pets start ready for breeding.
  • Stablemasters now unstable the pet in the right stable now. :P
  • Since all tricks are different ticks of old pets are converted into toys.
  • All pets + trained pet toys are returned in wicker cradles.
  • Added 'pet' keyword to pets
  • Gave six sense a reflex bonus
  • Old pet bodies no longer get dumped at tsq but properly destroyed.
  • The $p/$P hitpoint prompt values ported to new pet system
  • First generation pets and eggs (directly generated from a species) is now first bred as if it had two parents, so they get a proper list of randomized traits.
  • Split infertile to unfertilized (for eggs) and sterile (for pets). This allows us to still hatch eggs of sterile pets. Before this change, vorpal bunnies were infertile, so their eggs were too and hatching became impossible.
  • Pets now receive complexity scores, adjusted by pet magical ability. It scales up to level 50, adjusted by -50% to +80%, (25 to 90 complexity).
  • Innate tricks will no longer be garbled after breeding.
  • Pets could not use socials because a lack of eyes: the import code now gives them a basic set of bodyparts; they need to be tuned per species though. (some have four legs, others two, even others have wings, arms, etc)
  • A baby pet starts at level 0, and is unable to level until they reach age 3. At age 3 they gain 1 level and can begin levelling.
  • Breeding now properly inherits the parents species, family, breeder, and other traits.
  • Only manual talents show up in pet help list now.
  • Up to 3 physical traits can now be selected by the owner via the 'pet trait' command, giving the owner full control over the room Description of their pet. (The available traits are generated by the toys and genetic traits).
  • Common to rare pets pregnancy duration differs, from common 15m, 30m, 1h, 2h, 4h to 6h for rarest pets (8h for 'unknown' species, but those should be unable to breed anyway). Only in the last few minutes pets start to spam the birthing messages. Pet score shows in which trimester the pet is.
  • Some old gifted pets have a renamed race. For example, a pet rock could really be a renamed pony. The conversion code will now try to find a species that matches the 'fake' species and make the pet a member of it. (In the fake pet rock pony example, if there really is a pet rock species, the pet rock will turn into a true pet rock, and is no longer a pony).
  • Highscores replaced, so no more double pets in highscores (except for now on codeport :P).
  • Added highscore filters.
  • Fixed: Old pet eggs hatch the wrong pets
  • Top 25 entries of some highscores get statues. note that the epic pet and permadeath statues no longer pop, since there are no individual highscores for those atm.
  • Highscore color now changes when player hold a highscore: Rank 250 and below are lighter cyan, and rank 25 and below are white.
  • After 90 days of inactivity players get removed from the highscore, except for players in the top 100. (Players in the top 100 can still be pushed out of the highscore, and players that relog get readded).
  • Stabled pets get properly deleted on character deletion.
  • We now have pretty descriptions for health, strength, defense, attack and size traits, thanks to Mortiax.
  • Uppercased Waterbreeding trait
  • Pets accidently had all their inactive traits active as well; fixed.
  • Rename now properly handles pets (and cleans up some other files that weren't deleted properly).
  • Highscore entries of char get cleared when someone deletes.
  • Pet toys, medicine, aethers and eggs now have proper titles in identify (instead of pet_care, pet_cure, etc).
  • Fixed bug causing short desc instead of pet name to be stored in highscore
  • Fixed bug causing pets to shrink :P

That is on purpose, wouldn't want spellbooks to swap (and having your spellbook de-equipped is a bug anyway).

Finally, where can I find an infertile egg to try the syphons (I have to admit it feels morally weird doing that, even though this is only a game O.o)


From breeding. I'll consider adding a stack of infertile eggs somewhere tomorrow :p

I logged in on Mirshann and got "Lupin the Dire Polar Wolf returns with you to the realms." I have no pet cradles in her inventory and she should have Lupin, Kiri, and Ashante. I astraled to Lupin and he was fighting cockroaches in Cell Block One.

I logged Sardonyx and she is no longer in Blackraven guild. Pooky is the leader of Blackravens.

I logged Minx and all her eq was in inventory, including songbook and spellbook. Put everything on, logged back in and it was fine.

I logged in Jorja and all eq including spellbook was off. Put it on logged off/on and the eq was off again. This time she was fine. Same with Salubri.

Bought an egg, held it without an inc, tried to hatch it and got "You notice a crack in the egg. awww, its worthless."

This is because of the rename tests :P I didn't restore the guilds on codeport.

I found and fixed the bug. It was caused by a bug in quit and logout.
