I am leveling an ogre 22/22 Pal/Mage. Before the patch at level 20 Pal she could kill the lower snakes with no help to heal. She has affected by sanc and 90% blunt resist. She uses mitrill swords, silk and hawthorne eq. Her stats are Your current stats: 50 str 29 wis 24 int 24 dex 32 con 10 cha 12 lck. Now she fights the snakes and finds herself drinking healing several times in the battle. The pythons are getting an average of 2 x2 criticals on her per python, so like 6 crits in the one battle. If it is this bad for a decently eq'd character what will it be like for the average player? I realize silk/wood is not as protective as metal now but you would think I would be crit less often.
A python lunges at your right arm!
... and sinks his teeth in your right arm.
... critical hit (x2)!
... Causing some scratches on your right arm.
... a python causes 100 damage.
A python lunges at a ironwood metallic-black Hawthorne Winged Helmet!
[medium armor raises by 0.9% and is now 67.6%]

... a python causes 37 damage.
... his head is scratched by your razor spikes!

Just a small example cut from the battle. I realize my hp looks fine in these clips but they got me down to 2 stars 3 times in the battle.

I also wanted to say that pixies/gnomes/dazed villagers/mermaids all seemed fine to me. They hit me yes and criticaled fairly often but not to the point that i would complain, just a bit more of a challenge than the pre-patch days. I rarely get a sever on the mobs but i still do damage so I get to work a lil harder instead of severing and standing back to watch.

The pythons in the zoo. The boas too and I'm scared to try the badder snakes heh. 9 separate bandages in 5 min of leveling. 2 bites, 5 scratches, and 2 bruises during the time it took to kill all boas and pythons in the zoo. A healthy dose of healing sprinkled in there too. Maybe if you could fight one zoo animal at a time it would be ok but these are gang fights.

midian zoo updated
see how it goes now, and decide if maybe i should lower the number of mobs in the rooms (like some have 4 or 5 - maybe it should be 3?)

During your 41 minute visit:
- You have gained 2,160 experience.
- You have looted 1,610 gold coins.
- Your best kill was a sparring knight (level 35)!
Bandit the Racoon stops following you.
A sparring knight is DEAD!!
You gain 135 xp.
Normally during this amount of time of leveling I would have leveled at least once. Is anyone else experiencing such a slow time of leveling?

Zoo seems ok now. If we could direct our bandages it would help though. Those boas bite, heh. I think the fish should bite more maybe. I have went 10 levels in the fishtank and recieved only 1 bite where the boas would bite me everytime I entered their cage. The fish do bruise often, and maybe it is my eq that saves me. I use craft eq that I created just for leveling with sanc and blunt resists enchanted onto them. I use silk and hawthorne armor, think I might need to learn a metal armor craft someday heh.

If you still want an opinion on Silver Streams, my player is a Pal/Mage but I did not use magic while fighting the guards there. It takes awhile to kill one of the guards but levels should not come easy at that point in time anyway. Severs happen very seldom and this will cause some people to complain because that was the *old way* of fighting in SS, sever the head and wait for it to bleed to death. I got slashed a few times and if I had not used the spell regen It might have became a problem since the battles last so long and we cannot bandage in battle. Personally I think things are fine there now just require a bit more work. I might be better eq'd than average though.
