For this topic, i welcome specific information related to areas/mobiles which are overly diffucult now.

Please note, just because you post here, does not necessarily mean i will instantly change it so that you can slaughter them.

The process will be - you post specific details

I test said area out with willing players who are knowledgable with the new combat system, and then adjust as needed.

I have noticed not one of the female super-mobs wears a nice dress, or carry parasol. Heck, not one even wears pink....

Alright, is it just me or the mobs extremely powerful...it makes it hard to level when the mobs hit you so hard and you only have 697hp. I used my healing juice on just this one fight. How are we supposed to level when one continues to die?

This is the stats I'm currently working with! I don't dare to try anything harder than the children at Barbarian Plains; for one hit takes me down so much and with healing juices only being 10 sips now, I'm finding it hard to level and stay alive at the same time.

I decided to see if I could survive a battle with a barbarian villager this is what I encountered:

answer: you should read the forums :) it hit your 'cloth' shirt thus increasing the chance of a critical wound by 'alot'
wear metal armor, especially 'nice' metal armour, like mitrill
or try scale
or wood

You will notice through your entire log, that it hit your cloth shirt when it did the big damage, i would recommend fixing that first.



next, now i may be mistaken here, but you are level 30, and you are fighting level 50+ mobiles?

but ok, lets ignore that for a sec, i can see your character right now, and am noticing your attackroll of 24.2 - against a target of 40 armorclass, thats why you may have a hard time hitting.

enchanting some attackroll may help
not alot mind you, dont go overboard, boost it by 10 at least, and see what happens. one easy way to do this - is get one of those sigils, i see your strength is 25, if you raise it much higher, your attackroll will increase accordingly.

Other ideas - don't aim for limbs, as you get a penalty to hit.
i am noticing, your last hit seemed to smack him up pretty well.

I'll have a look at them, and see if they need a lower mobility.

Alright, so what you are telling me is in order for me to get anywhere in the game now I must have tons of gold in order to craft and enchant all this equipment that we are being forced to stay alive. I don't have the resources that the 'experienced' players in the game might have. Who spend hours and hours crafting. I might have 'alts' that craft but I do not have the time nor the hours it takes to become the ultimate crafter to level with the proficency it is going to be needed now to play. I come to just level and play the game. Now it seems in order to level one is going to need the best equipment in order to stay alive.

When a true 'newbie' enters Alora; how are they going to survive in the lands; when the only way it seems to get anywhere is to have tons of gold and in order to have gold you must be able to level. So it is a lose lose situation, in my opinion.

i'm not saying you need to have mitrill, i'm saying it's something to aim for.
you can however not use the worst items in the game while levelling :)

please, try wood, or scale, its a much nicer alternative to cloth when getting smacked around :)

And, equipment doesnt need to cost you anything, there are alternatives to craft equipment. You can kill a mobile, and instantly have free equipment.

BTW, no, barbarian planes was never intended for level 30 players, type help levelling, and see if theres any alternatives in there.
You notice in your chart you showed with the levels, the first one (42 - 50) means that thats what i'm recommending to players, the second one means, thats what i'm enforcing - so if youre level 30, and you want to be in there, im not stopping you) (this was done to attempt to appease the people who complained about area level enforcements)


I'm quite sure there will need to be adjustments made to the areas, no doubt in my mind, just bear with us, and continue to post your information.

Then what is the point have having the ability to craft cloth/silk equipment in the first place if now it is the 'worst' equpiment to wear. I understand that having good armor is a positive thing and something to aim for but what I am trying to say is that not everyone has the time to have the 'best' gear.

Why can't the areas be tweaked to make it fair for everyone not for the ones that craft all the nice materials. Why make leveling so difficult for low levels now?

I decided to try leveling at Ivory and it just about got me killed...I was not targetted on my 'cloth shirt' but hit on stuff that is mob equipment as well as my skirt. Now, without regen I am going to die even faster. I'm running out of healing juices and I have nothing to cure my bleeding. Now, I'm going to have figure out how to bandage so I do not have to rely on others to regen me.

I think this game is being made harder and not as enjoyable as it was before. I understand things needed to be fixed but why make it impossible? I also understand that things are going to be worked out in areas, why weren't they worked out before this was implemented? However, right now leveling just plains sucks...sorry that is just my opinion. I will continue to also try to work through this 'rough' period and post what I see, but it is rather frustrating is all.

cassia, why did you enter the ivory keep?

why didnt you try out one of those other places that have monsters without longswords as weapons?

But ok, to address a few things, first, not so big of a log next time please, much of it was not necessary.
Next, i noticed you were hit, and were bleeding, and you did nothing to stop your bleeding, why?
Use bandages, its easy, and it works.


The game is /not/ being made harder, it is being made fair, and i do understand your frustration, but it's only because you havent got into the 'groove' of what easy things you can do to survive.

Please don't just dismiss this as something thats dumb, ivory keep has always been a hard place to level for people, when they have hit in the past, they have always hurt people. With this patch, to equalize people out, it makes it more easy for them to get a hit now. (mainly because they use longswords to fight with)

Fight in places where the monsters just have fists for now, until i get ivory keep a little balanced, but from that log, it was a pretty nice fight, you did not die, and you gained 135 experience.

I'll start today with tackling areas where the creatures fight with weapons, and post here when i've made the change.

(p.s, spend 10 mins or so, and enter tarsonis woods, go foraging for cotton, after you get 20 pieces, process them into cloth. Walk back to tarsonis, buy a pair of scissors, and combine scissors cloth until you have a bunch of bandages. Keep the stack of bandages in your primary portal or container, and maybe one in your inv. Bleeding takes alot out of you, if you can bandage right away, you will do much better)

Isabelle: ou just made IK even more of a joke for any pixie mages who are levelling...but then again, any levelling for a pixie mage is a joke any way, so I guess it doesn't matter much.

Cassia: The point of light armor is mainly for casters or rogues. Casters can use it because its cheap and they don't need as much enchant to be effective, and it helps them to avoid to a certain degree. Rogues can use it because they get extra skills like tumble that help to avoid, in addition to the increase in mobility for using light armor. Heavy armor is primarily made for tanks or for someone who needs a large amount of enchant. Medium armor is a nice middle ground for someone who takes a few hits, but still wants to try to avoid some.

Tynave: You might consider replacing your weaker weapon with a shield. Although you can not hit quite as often, you will block a decent amount of attacks and will be able to survive longer. At your level, you don't have spin, so you do not necessarily have to dual-wield, although if you can survive without the shield, I do prefer to.

A lot of ppl are too pissed off with the reactions theyve gotten from Immortals and some of them just like to complain and not help, so id like to post for them. I might also suggest a deeper look into problem, tho i realize you guys cant do everything or know everything. I also cant be bothered to either remake a character to test it out or ask for a 2nd account so can make a new one, so i asked a couple of questions about what ppl kept having to deal with.
Basically most lowbies dont have the knowledge about game eq to look for all the good items. They also dont have the means to get a hold of craft eq. Ive suggested asking for help from their guild but I dont think most guilds have the knowledge or willingness to create a big system to help their lowbies with knowledge/eq. I believe if some research was done and some suggestions were made, it would help speed up the recovery.
Few other things ive heard:
"Im better off casting spells, they do more damage"...casters should be doing this anyway but fighters cant. So they feel their 2nd class has become useless. Generally this indicates that their eq isnt of a material that can do enough damage to mobs. And plz dont tell ppl to reforge to mitrill, despite it being rather common now, its not readily available to most ppl between 1-50.
Potions arent effective, ppl cant bandage in battle. You cant buy scissors in the tool shop anymore, theres no shop in the tailoring tent. Mobs can bandage but thats after ppl use the sleep spell in battle - a recent "trick" to use in battle.
Not just mob AR should be reduced also their damage. Basically with the low and high mobility i think most mobs can hit almost every leveller out there anyway. Ppl still say they get loads of crits against them and the mob's chance to sever limbs is pretty high. Other ppl say they dont get severed but the damage is so high they die within a few hits. And this is all of the areas, not just IK.
I hope this motivates ppl to react and post their own views.

potions can stay the way they are for now, if i start stocking mud shops with potions like you can craft, the point of crafting becomes pointless.


i understand why the bandaging is the way it is, i had forgot about that, we'll hafta figure out something.
i think bandaging during a fight isnt bad, perhaps if it carries a delay?
sure you may be hit during the delay, but at least you arent bleeding to death.

I DO however, wish the chances of criticals could be lowered further, but it might have to do with the attackroll of the mobiles and not the code itself, so i'll see.


As for the new players not knowing what to do, or where to go, we will address this problem when i move the cities around, allowing newbies to be able to purchase low level gear from mud owned shops. The farther out from the nest they go, the higher level the mobs will be, and the higher level the equipment will be in shops.

I have seen the complaints, and i have also watched the hardcore complainers in action (this isnt directed at anyone btw) the problem is with creatures and their gear, and players and their gear, i'll see what i can do. It will involve alot of 'education' for the players, and a fair amount of tweakage, but it will work out.

Isa, you should increase the effect on the glowing blue potions in tarsonis alchemist's tent from Mind Recuperation I to III; they last something like 5 seconds and restore a pitiful amount of mana; I'm a pure caster and I don't even bother with them anymore. I realize that this will make them just as good as the blue potions in chests, but the blue potions in chests aren't even that good, and anything worse than them is the uber suck.

even though i wanted the place to be an area for groups only, theres probably not enough areas for me to continue with that plan.

I have been watching Xris do just fine in there, if theres issues, i may consider replacing the equipment on the guards, since its all steel at the moment.


As for potions, ok, i will try 3's in the shops, if it gets silly, it will be dropped to 2.
