I decided yesterday that I was going to compile the greatest modern protest songs of the past few years.

Unfortunately... most protest music blows ass. Dead Prez have a good message... but they're not really the kind of band you can listen to more then once. Same goes with all those crappy hippie bands.

I need suggestions. I'm going to be working at the Libertarian Party Table at the Santa Monica Promenade this weekend (come visit if you're in the area!) and I want some badass music going on while we're heckling Republicans.

So far I have:

Chronic Future - Time and Time Again (check out the video here - http://www.gnn.tv/videos/video.php?id=19)
International Noise Conspiracy - Smash It Up
Faithless - Mass Destruction
Rage Against the Machine - Know Your Enemy
Bad Religion - Let Them Eat War
The Suicide Machines - Your Silence
Eminem - Mosh (Check out the Video here - http://www.gnn.tv/content/eminem_mosh.html)
Rise Against - Give It All
Outkast - Bombs Over Baghdad (RATM Remix)
Bad Religion - Change of Ideas
Rage Against the Machine - Guerilla Radio
Sum 41 - Still Waiting
Eminem - White America
Bad Religion - I Want To Conquer the World
Pennywise - Fight It
War - What is it Good For
Black Sabbath - War Pigs

If anyone knows of something cool I should add... let me know :)

Thanks!

On a mission,
Laurana

David Banner's Bush is a great song, although it might be somewhat narrow in prospective because he talks generally about the experinces of a black man from Mississippi [i.e. his life]. Just about the only place you'll find it is on KaZaA, though; it was a somewhat short song and too political to make a hit single from.

I'd rip it and send it to you, but that CD along with others was taken to Dallas by a friend of mine. :(:(:(

So yea...

I'm sick to death of that song.

Also, if you're talking protest songs, I would suggest 'White Stripes - Seven Nation Army'.
